Yes, it took 32 years and he got to live longer...but he was on death row. In a cell by himself 23 hours a day for 32 years. Believe me, his life was miserable.

32 yrs is rubbish, there should be a cap of 5yrs max if you are on the row

Imagine waiting 32 years for justice to be seen. I appreciate there are appeals which must be heard. But 32 years? It's a disgrace and a travesty of justice.

It is unfair in that the officer lost his life immediately, while this killer was allowed to live out his life until age of 72. Even so, better late than never.

Officer James Irby was NEVER a threat to society 🇺🇸

Bob Frata was on death row for 28 years until he was executed yesterday in Texas as well.

He would not have been the oldest convict executed, if he had taken the dirt nap after exhausting his last appeal.

Along with the right to a speedy trial there also needs to be a speedy execution when the killer has been convicted in a court of law without a reasonable doubt whatsoever! It should not take years to execute a convicted killer!

So, our tax money was paying for the killer for last 30 some years? WTF. Our court system is broken, death sentence needs to be done shortly after person is found guilty. Court system is Disgrace to officers family and friends and the community.Respect the law informant officers.

He was allowed to live the gift of life a lot longer than the poor poor officer. 😞

These criminals have a better life than most kids.

he only showed “ remorse “ because he got caught. if he didn’t get caught he would be free and certainly not give himself up.

saying he is no longer a threat to the public because of his age is a load of rubbish, how much strength does it take to pull a trigger of a gun

It’s so crazy to me that when someone dies the world moves on without them like they were never there in the first place

I cannot believe it took 32 years! Even 11 years seems ridiculous.

I loved what DA said: " There was NO one to touch the officer ... no one to say a prayer" Wow!

My Dad is 80 and he could still kill somebody if he had to, if it was him or them.

I don’t know how I would feel if I lost someone and the death penalty was being sought. I know my pain would be intense and so deep.
The closest I’ve come to something of the nature….being date raped by a boyfriend. I went to have the abortion but I couldn’t go through it. A relative decided she would have an abortion and I refused to have anything to do with it. I didn’t support it by taking her or giving her my opinion. Oh by the way the baby I kept and she is now 25.5 years old and has a daughter. I love them dearly.

He wanted leniency, something he didn't show officer Irby and his family? What wrong had officer done to him?

Buntion claimed: “ it was a shootout, “ as if it was the Wild West! No, he had no right in shooting any police officer under any circumstances! My heart goes out to the Irby family. ♥️
