Another well crafted and very informative video. Does a far better job of walking through how to do it than the Canon videos do.

Another great video Pablo! FV mode is my favorite mode for everyday regular shooting. Thanks for the tips on using the dials and switching back and forth. Stay safe and healthy. Mahalo and Aloha.

Great video, FV mode seems go great! currently shooting on a canon 80D, but I'd love to get my hands on an EOS R-- keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing more videos from you!

It might not be for every setting, but it sure is for a LOT of them!

Remarks from using Fv on my Canon EOS RP:
To correct the Tv or Av settings quicker, press down the shutter first half way down. Now you can adjust from the automatically chosen value up or down.
When the camera is not in measuring mode, the values start at the "left" most values, resulting in 30" for Tv or the open aperture of your lens for Av.

Assuming youre using auto iso, i dont really see the difference between manual mode. In manual mode you have dedicated control over shutter or aperture. The only difference is in Fv mode, pressing the trash button on one setting to switch back to auto, or long pressing to set them all to auto.

Thanks for another nice video. If it wasn't for the occasional need for the light meter, I see no reason to ever leave Fv mode. Unless there is a way to have an active light meter in that mode when say aperture, shutter speed and iso are not in auto setting?

How can I set the base amount for the settings. For example I want shutter to be at 1/125 when I toggle from auto to manual. By default shutter starts at 30sec . Instead i want it to be at 1/125. Is it possible?

I think you forgot to set your white balance in your video.

I’m afraid you totally missed the whole point of this mode 😱

The real power of this mode is that you can control all three (Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO), when each one is independent of the others.
Including any combination there is. This lets you “switch modes” quickly and without EVER needing to change modes.

So, to illustrate - From left to right - Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO, and A=Auto, M=Manual (You set the value)
A, A, A = P mode
A, M, A = Av mode
M, A, A = Tv mode
M, M, M = Manual mode

Also, I’ll call these “sub-modes”:
A, A, M = P mode with setting ISO manually
A, M, M = Av mode with setting ISO manually
M, A, M = Tv mode with setting ISO manually
M, M, A = Manual mode with Auto ISO

So - you can mix and match settings and change what you need, without thinking of fitting into any annoying mode!

I shoot ONLY in Fv :)
