Just a side note about all the Catholic/Orthodox back and forth: I think we all can reasonably say the Catholic and Orthodox churches were one when those heresies were defeated, so I think claiming the victory for one later branch only subverts our unity in Christ. The point of confronting heresies isn’t to win brownie points to be better than other Christians, it’s to defend proper views of God, and I think all Creed-abiding, faithful Christians should be able to recognize that.

Thank you. Learning early Church history was one of the things that led me to Orthodoxy. Your videos are helpful.

St Nicholas was also famous for confronting Arianism. According to legend, after serving 10 years in prison for refusing to denounce Christ, Bishop St Nicholas attended the Council of Nicaea, slapped an Arian follower in the face, and was shacked and imprisoned. St Nicholas supposedly received a vision from the Virgin Mary, was released from his chains, and started working on important holy scrolls. The guards eventually noticed this and were astonished, so St Nicholas was released early. Upon St Nicholas' release, St Nicholas was relieved that the Council of Nicaea ruled against Arianism and deemed it a heresy.

The arianism heresy might have been defeated at the council, but the spirit wasnt. It found its way to islam and it's still there today

The campaign against Nestorianism did more harm than good and the Byzantine-backed church persecuted native Middle Eastern Christians instead of the admonition of their faith in a loving way.

St. Spyridon the Wonderworker was also one of the saints that went up against the Arian heresy and with a wonder he refuted it

Christ is both man & GOD. I rebuke all forms of Heresy including Arianism, Nestorinism and monothelatism in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD and the Son of man.

I’m a Catholic and here’s a fun fact about my patron St. Nicholas; while Arius was talking about Arianism, Nicholas got up, punched him, and then Arius said, “Constantine you know it is a crime to assault in your presence.” Constantine left the decision up to the Bishops, so Nicholas was locked away. There’s lots of different stories about what happened next but I think the most accepted is that Jesus and Mary appeared to Nicholas asking, “Why are you here.?” And he said, “Because of my love for you.” Jesus gave Nicholas the Gospel to show he was speaking the truth and defending the faith, and Mary gave him an omniphorum (I think that’s what it’s called) showing that she reinstated him as a Bishop. Stories change after this and how it was verified. Some say that a vision of this interaction appeared in the dreams of clergy and Constantine, others say that the Jailer the next morning found Nicholas unchained and reading the gospel.

And I believe Mary is the mother of God as well

Arius also denied the Monarchy of the Father, and that was the first condemnation pronounced against him.

If you say that Mary is not mother of our God, then why should you then say that Christ is God? If Mary gives birth to Christ our God that makes her the Mother of our God.
In Luke 1;42-43 ”In a loud voice, she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord* should come to me?”
Even people during the time of Christ understod that she gave birth to the messiah, to our Lord and God
