So, following that logic, there are only good Urumi-Fighters. Because the bad ones already took care of themselves

Its dangerous, but when used correctly the Urumi had two main advantages:

1) It was very hard to block, since it's flexibility could bypass most defenses

2) It had great range while also being easy to carry (you can wrap it around your waist like a belt)

The Urumi was in use all the way up to the 18th century, where the British colonial government put a ban on Indian Martial Arts.

The tradition of Urumi is not dead, at least there are still apparent masters around. Saw one on a sparring session (forgot where, might be The deadliest warrior). His sword was at least 2-3× as wide and longer than pictured here. Idk how on earth he didn't cut himself, looked rough. The moves are impressive.

I read online (great source, highly plausible 🤪...) that these were sometimes women's self defense weapons. Which actually makes a sort of sense on reflection: mutually probable destruction doesn't require skill, just desperation.
