Also if it is a 4-5 ply beam, it would be best to be fastened together with thru-bolts to ensure it engages all of its ply’s.

Just saw this on Structural engineering Reddit 😂

I also believe the window side is a bit undersupported just based on the amount of load that beam CAN hold, and so likely they expect it to be structural. I would personally like to see a but more support on the far end, but without all the context its hard to know. Im no structural engineer or anything but I have built a little before

Might not be a symmetrical load, and everything is proper, but the window is likely a common error.

From my understanding 4 or my plys of LVL require thru bolting to per Weyerhaeuser for the composite action. In all honesty I would never have called out 5 ply LVL and would just go to either a flitch or Wide flange.

Common sense suggests that the beam is undersupported on the far side. At worst, it would be as much as a single stud in compression (max 1000 lbs), and at best it could support as much as a 4x4 (about 3-5000 lbs depending on height assuming it is sufficiently connected to the adjacent kind stud.)

I would not let this go long without an engineer's stamp of approval. If you ask me that window needs to be redone (shifted to the right about a foot, and the beam supported by at least 3 or 4 jack studs in the wall.)

definitely undersupported on window 😐 This can not be an engineer design.
