Vanda Orchid seedlings update - Maybe not for me?

Today we take a look at my very young Orchids, the Vanda seedlings. As always, things are not only perfect.
▼▼▼More info below!▼▼▼

First off, my deflasked seedlings are not doing that well, they do seem to adjust very slow and I don;t think I helped. I have issues with the moisture and air ratio at this stage, so I need to try something else.

The older seedlings however are in great condition! In order of appearance they are:
1. Vanda luzonica
2. Rhynchostylis coelestis blue
3. Vanda tricolor var. alba
4. Vanda tricolor var. suavis
5. Rhynchostylis gigantea spots

In a few years we will probably get to see their blooms, as Vanda seedlings are slow growing plants. So be sure to keep this in mind before purchase ;)

Hi Danny, I just wanted to say thank you again for all of your videos!  You have helped me so much in so many different ways.  So, I wanted to message in regard to the comment that it sounds like someone made in regard to you being grammatically correct. This may sound a bit cheesy, but.... Honestly I tend to be a high strung individual, and orchids and plants help to calm me. Likewise, watching your videos also help to calm me and make me happy.  I like the phrases you use to describe your experiences. I smile when you mention 'feeling' a fragrance because I think that's a good way to describe it.  It is an experience of sorts, and we do our best to put words to it in order to share that experience.  I think I have a similar feeling whenever you use a phrase that may not be as common in the US. I enjoy listening to you talk and describe your experiences in terms of what you think and how you feel. Also I agree with Larry, it does give us a window into another language - another way of thinking about our experiences. I think it is refreshing, and I don't think you should change.  :)

I thought it was quite endearing, you saying "feel" the fragrance, I knew what you were saying, and it is part of what makes you so very interesting and "real" as a YouTuber, in my opinion. Thanks for all of the knowledge you impart. I have learned so much!

I am so glad someone told you about "smell" instead of "feel" . I love your videos and have learned so very much from watching every videos you have ever made ( sometimes more than just once). I was afraid you would think I was just looking for something to complain about if I said anything but It really would bother me every time you said "feel" instead of "smell" . You do such great videos, and I also love your new chanel. Have a great day and happy growing!!!

Nice update. I like tricolor too and have same varieties mostly as small seedlings that I deflasked myself recently. But also I have one (regular tricolor form) since 2012, I got it as tiny seedling with three small leaves and now it has leaf span almost 2 feet. They grow fast and time flies too... Now the challenge is to convince her to bloom...

Aw man, someone finally corrected you about "feeling the fragrance." I kinda liked the way you said it but I sometimes thought I should tell you that it should be "smell" but I didn't want to come off like a jerk 😂

Yes. I also had a couple of newly-deflasked vanda seedlings and I killed both of them really quickly. They're very hard to water without rotting them. I've transferred some older vanda seedlings to semi hydro as a last resort. Will be interesting to see how they do. If nothing else it will be a learning exercise. Watering them daily was too much work for so little growth! My cattleya seedlings are far easier and they grow a lot quicker. They love semi hydro and grew amazing roots straight away. I like growing seedlings but I don't think I will do vanda seedlings again!

Hi Danny! Can you maybe do a video on root toxicity or caring for weak (rootless) dendrobium keikis? I've recently lost most of the roots to my dendrobium keikis (very young keikis) to root toxicity (blackened, shriveled root tips) and they're not exactly recovering too well.. Thanks! Always love a good update vid btw

They make a LECA that is only 4mm to 6mm. It is meant for seedlings. I wonder if that would help?

My first vanda just arrived it's not much larger than the seedlings you've shown here but it was in bark chips. I've watered it and put it on a bright south/east window sill (where my phal has been flourishing) but I'm hesitant to take it out of the media because it seems like such a radical step. I think I just need someone to tell me everything's going to be ok :)

Question? Where do you purchase the longer white pot hangers you are using for the vandas. Also today you mentioned the microfiber in the vandas and remember from a video of quite a while ago that you were trying out the "synthic". Are you now just cutting up microfiber? Or are you purchasing the "synthic" product; guess it might be the same. Thanks.
