I believe Schofield is a veteran of the Battle of the Somme, and if that is the case, I like how he composes himself right before he begins firing his weapon. He has been in this situation before and knows panicking, although natural, serves no purpose, and thus, he has to prepare himself, mentally and physically, to not only survive but also kill. Notice when he fires his first shot and takes cover, he has to calm his nerves and regain his focus before firing again. Nice little detail I saw in an overall great film.

Wow I can't believe this movie is almost 103 years old.

A one man assault making his own covering fire as he advanced, with a bolt action no less. Now THAT'S soldiering!

I saw this in theaters twice and no joke when that sniper rifle first goes off, my family and I almost had a collective stroke because of how loud it was. The tension building in this movie is beyond excellent.

I love some of the attention to detail in this movie. When Schofield makes the second shot, you can see a little sillouette move away from the window.

I moved from Arizona to Tennessee in late 2019, a little bit before this movie came out. I was alone with no friends or family, one of the hardest times of my life. I remember when this move came out, I purchased a ticket for the latest showing. I was the only car in the entire parking lot. I didn’t see one employee in the entire building but the doors were open and the lights were on. I made my way into the theater and I was completely alone. I watched this film and I swear to all mighty, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve tried watching it since, but it’s just not the same. Movie experience was unlike any other.

Anyone who didn't see this in the theatre has no idea how loud and percussive those gunshots sounded. The sound people on this movie did such a great job with the weapons, explosions, foley, and everything else.

I find it fascinating that, right before the sniper fires, the shot pans away from the window just enough that when the shot breaks, you can't see where it comes from. It makes it that much more jarring and scary, because just like Schofield we don't get to see the puff of smoke or a flash. He even takes a second before glancing in the general direction and realizing where it might've come from.

Storming a sniper position alone without any covering fire is pure 100% courage at work.

I love how this action scene is filmed. Its unlike pretty much any gunfight I've seen in a movie and mimics a 3rd person video game perspective

The detail scene when he fires his shot knowing he hit his mark or he realized he didn’t and kept firing while advancing, aim, shoot, take cover👌

This movie is one of those rare few where you wish you could experience the entire film for the first time in theaters.

Just wanted to say... 18 shots in total were fired in this scene, which is impressive to me, because Hollywood generally sees 'tense' as having as many bullets in the air at once as humanely possible. But I find this movie impressive, because it made this scene feel tense with two guys and only 18 shots.
