How To Reset Arris SURFboard Router To Factory Default Settings

Eric shows you how to reset an ARRIS SURFboard router to factory settings. This works for all the ARRIS SURFboard routers.

There is a pin hole on the back or bottom of the router with a button inside. You'll want to find a pointy sharp object, such as a pen or safety pin, to press into the hole and hold the button down. Some do not have this button inside a hole. Sometimes it could be a WPS/Reset button that is easy to press with your finger.

1. Make sure the power is plugged in!
2. Then hold the button down for at least 10 seconds

The router will not have factory default password and settings applied, just like when it came new from the store!

I bought a second hand router arris surfboard sbg6400 and nothing seemed to work. I couldn’t find the name as shown in the label as it was sold to me as new. Turned out that probably it had another name. I greatly appreciate your video. Reset did make it work to the original settings. THANK YOU!!!

I tried your directions. My router seems to reboot, but does not reset the username and password. I tried this 4 times and held the button for at least 10, 20, and 30 seconds.

I could not login into router setup page. After resteping my router back to factor settings. You need to have the security key for your router as it be how you login to your network account. Then you change your username and password. This was great help gor me.

are you able to do this and change the password information? the reason I ask is because my bf purchased a router at a yard sale. the person he bought it from never removed it from their account. Apparently, we have the cable provider. The previous owner never removed the router from their account and they won't let us add it. I bought a refurbished modem, I need to know how to refurbish the password information. Thank you.
