I got the new remote and love, love, love it. I have the 4K Apple TV so didn’t feel the need to update the whole system. I hated the old remote. I love having a mute button and an on off button. I love that it’s bigger and heavier, aluminum instead of glass. So much easier to scrub back and forth. 100% better remote. Thank you Apple. 💜😍

Coming from a 10-year-old Apple TV I needed a new one - obviously... If I were to only need a new remote I figure the $60 price tag would be well worth it. How can a remote control be so great...
1- quickly open a new app with Siri
2 - new trackpad becomes intuitive very fast
3- having a mute button on it is well worth it - not having to dig up the television remote - Same applies for the volume and ability to start and shut down both with one power button.
4- the size is just right in the hand - the flat sides (ala iPhone 12) is gold
5- Rechargeable battery

I ordered the remote for my 2017 Apple TV 4K. Don’t think it was worth replacing the box tho as there’s very little worth upgrading.

Aaron that knife is overkill! May i suggest something more elegant and agile like a Fallkniven LTC, Walther Gentleman's folder, Benchmade Proper, Cold Steel Lucky or Boker Barlow

Getting mine today! Can’t wait to try a 60fps 4K video; if I can find one. 😝 incidentally, the 60Hz 4K HDR option in video settings is available on the previous generation too. That’s just a reference to the screen refresh rate not the frames per second of the HDR content.

You should have checked out the video colour calibration feature recently introduced for Apple TV. It’s not unique to the new gen Apple TV 4K, but it’s a new feature, nonetheless. Would have completed your review.

Really not feeling the new remote. Siri button on the side is in an awkward place for me, much prefer it on the front. The click wheel also seems like a step backwards. I’ll probably stick with the previous Apple TV 4K. I’ve never caught myself saying “Gee, my Apple TV is really slow and sluggish” so I don’t see a compelling reason to upgrade right now. Got mine… Got problems, been on the phone with Apple Tech. so far not super impressed. Coming from the 1st gen. 4K Apple TV and speed wise it outperforms the new one. I’ve got really really slow access times for iTunes movies, just keep getting the spinners for up to a full minute. All the other apps work fine, my 1st gen 4K just dives right in to iTunes movies, less than 10 sec access times. Hoping for a software fix
