You missed one important point in this talk. UK not only lost a good trade deal with the EU, but with all the countries EU has trade deals with.

As a noneleconomist, I have to wonder about the explanation for the lack of change for large exporters. In the case of large exporters, administrative costs can be absorbed more easily, but more importantly large exporters because sunk capital costs can not be ignored or the availability of alternate sources. If you were, for example, Nissan and were making Nissan transmissions for all Nissan products in the EU market, you would not be able to readily source transmissions from anywhere else so you will continue at least for the short to medium term to continue exporting to Europe no matter what the increased cost or inconvenience. On the other hand, any future capital investment will be evaluated not only on cost but also on size of the market, consistency of regulation, and administrative ease.

My compliments to the chairwoman for keeping this moving along very briskly and smoothly. Hence my attention was held in spite of the pretty dry and generalised character of the content.

Christie said "They COULD CARE LESS" which means that they DO CARE a bit, doesn't he understand his own native language? 🤦

Congrats for this interesting piece of work! I missed a word on the impact of the exchange rate of the Sterling vs the Euro respectively vs the US Dollar, which seems to be candidate to explain the asymmetry in the post 2020 evolution of imports and exports.

Don’t let ignorant people (those completely uneducated, lacking specific detailed knowledge on a subject) make decisions on same!
