“Perfectionism,” “imposter syndrome,” .. I think these are fancy terms that make us feel more comfortable talking about the real problem so many are facing which is being “insecure” or not feeling “good enough.” It’s time to change the convo and get honest about the root so we can suck the poison out ❤️

Hmmm, I believe “insecurity, ” is a symptom of imposter syndrome. I would say that imposter syndrome is more similar to a cluster B disorder. Insecurity is more like diagnostic criteria is it not?

I struggle hard with this. I get what you're saying, but I do have sincere moments of really thinking what I have to offer isn't worth shit to anyone and why would someone pay me for what was so easy for me to learn? I forget sometimes that it comes easy to me because it's where I belong, and where my passion is and isn't easy for everyone. But I still wonder sometimes if what I charge for my knowledge is worth it, or if I'm making a profit for doing something that takes minimal effort.

it's a 1970s word that doesn't need your "rebrand" but then who needs an actual education or qualifications to get the podcast bro Nobel prize, right?

The brain's amygdala, which processes fear and anxiety, can become overactive, triggering feelings of self-doubt and worthlessness and, basically, it takes an extraordinary amount of validation and positivity to override it and can lead, in the worst cases, to suicide. It is one of the traits convergent with being on the autistic spectrum and I constantly battle with it and be completely and overwhelmingly exhausting to deal with. A brain that is restlessly, continually in analysis mode drives a perfectionist attitude that will never realistically be sated and that will be despite anyone of any good will and authority reassuring you that you are good enough, you've done fantastic job and the analysis machine will find fault in you, yourself, your work, your whole crummy lousy existence. So, sorry, it is not "just" insecurity, it is a very serious neurogenic imbalance. I have a cousin that also suffers from the same problem and tried to end his life last year because it just got on top of him and he took a large dose of morphine in order to 'solve' the problem of his existence.

I thought imposter syndrome was when the person thought because they can do it easily, everyone else can do it easily as well.

Imposter Syndrome is actually tied to narcissism. Typically Covert Narcissism, but not always. Same thing with Social anxiety. Both stem from narcissism.

You develop imposter syndrome from childhood because you couldn’t be yourself.
