My older sister went to high school with him in central Florida she told me everyday he would tell ppl on the bus he’s gonna be huge and he would sing for everyone and when just dance came out my sister literally was in shock she told me he was a nice humble determined guy

Colby O'Donis feels like a fever dream. In 2008 - 2010 he was featured every where and then he just disappeared.

It's a shame really that Colby worked so hard to make it in the music industry but his biggest success remains that one feature he wasn't even supposed to have.

I was a junior in high school when Just Dance and What You Got came out. These songs played everywhere that summer, so I very clearly remember Colby O'Donis being featured on these songs. Everyone I knew were excited about his music and all the girls thought he was attractive. We all thought he was the next big thing in music, but he suddenly dropped off since radio didn't play any of his songs. It was kind of a bummer.

Y’all didn’t know about Colby O’Donis? His part in just dance was my favorite part of the song, his music was pretty popular amongst the girls in my school. I’m honestly surprised he isn’t more known.

Colby is now a father and settling down with his beautiful wife. I don't think he has a desire to try to make it big in the music industry anymore. I mean fame and fortune isn't built for everyone. But it looks like he's already got his happiness right in the palm of his hands. He has an amazing voice and is a really chill dude.

I wish more research would've been done into who Colby O'Donis actually was and what happened to his career. At the time Just Dance premiered, Colby was actually more popular than Gaga. She obviously quickly surpassed him, but people who remember that era of pop definitely knew who he was when they heard him on Just Dance.

It didn't help that gaga removed the feature part on 99% of live performances of the song 💀 but is more for the sake of her not dancing to a track during that part and not because they wanted to erase him. Although they could've performed live together at least once 😅

I almost never comment on any videos, but I was really hoping someone would do a “whatever happened to…” video on Colby. It’s really great to see someone talking about it more in depth, because I grew up listening to the song “What You Got”. It just brings back so many memories. He has a lot of hidden gems that never reached the height of some of his other songs. However, he is still very prevalent in the music industry as a songwriter. Thank you, Honest! ❤️🫶🏽

I actually loved that it was Colby’s part then her bridge which meant the song could go on longer, it’s such a catchy bop and it’ll forever be iconic to me

Fun fact, I got to be an extra for MTV to see Colby ODonis perform What You Got at a nightclub in Hollywood. The song got pretty big over here. I got paid $50, two drink tickets and got to bring a plus one haha. Oh to be 22 again. I always wondered what happend to him.

I actually discovered "Just Dance" because of Colby. I loved his first album and some of the singles he dropped after. His song, "I wanna touch you, " was produced by Red One, who was working with Gaga a lot during "The Fame" days. That song was so good and I played it every day in summer '09. Fun fact: Spotify accidently added 2 of my songs to Colby's editorial playlist last year somehow. I was so confused when I saw it in my stats. Someone must have caught it and they removed the songs before they got a lot of streams 😂

I think also Akon could see that Colby had the same sound and the same sort of style as him so it was a no brainer to put him on the track. I know a lot people who still think that just dance is ft Akon because it sounds like him so much.
