Old Vs New! Schindler 3300 Traction Elevators @ Caldwell Building - Williamsville, NY

(7-15-21) This has to be one of the weirdest layouts I've ever seen. I believe these elevators used to be Montgomery, but they have both been modernized to Schindler 3300. The strange part of this is how one of the elevators is an older 3300 and the other one is a newer 3300. They are on separate controllers as well. So today we get to compare side by side two different 3300s! Which one do you like more?

These must have been new installs, couldn't have been monties before unless they ripped them out and installed brand new elevators. Overall this really is cool to see.

They run fine but I'm not wild about either honestly. The white plastic surfaces should be black for easier viewing of the red indication. The older 7-segment is somewhat easier to read than the newer dot-matrix setup. They re nice enough elevators but I generally get a cheap plastic vibe from both of them. I'd love to see how they look & run in 20 years.

Very Unique Setup!

The One on the right is similar to the ones at my Dad's Sister's Apartment Building except the ones at her building have a Stainless Steel Cab.

I Personally like both the older and newer Schindler 3300s.

In Europe we have 3 types: schindler 3300 Mark 1 that Has 2 variants: touch sensitive ( original design fór 3300 ), touch regular button slap on ( in countries where touch sensitive buttons were banned ) and Mark 2 that is like the newer one in the video

I kinda prefer the old one (mostly because of how American FI GL fixtures are nicer than the Asian ones we get here lmao), but the newer one with FI GS is cool as well. Or maybe I just prefer center opening doors hmmm 🤔🤔🤔

Oh yeah was the older montgomery a side opening? If it was then yes, it might have used to be the newer 3300 (because a replacement would likely adapt the same door layout lol).

Why would they ever completely replace older elevators w/ 3300? That is just stupid. The Monties were probably much better built. But the set-up is strange, esp. since the left 1 seems like it's from 2016 while the right 1 seems like it's from 2020-21. Between the choice of these 2 elevators, I would prefer the right 1.
