In a cristian view, what he was explaining was Moises commandments, it was normal (especially for kings) to have multiple wives,

but you don't see people avoiding eating specific types of meat or making lamb sacrifices today right? (Leviticus 11 and Genesis 4:4)
This is becuase we now live under jesus commandments, and told us to love one wife / one husband
