Alec, Jarad and Malcolm – they're three black teenagers from Brooklyn, New York, and they're in a metal band. AJ+'s Dena Takruri grabbed a moment with them between gigs and screenings of their new doc “Breaking a Monster” to see what it's like to be called the next Jonas Brothers.

People stereotype that most inner city black kids want to be in the rap game, instead of the rock game, because most of them (when they enter music) steer towards rap. It doesn't mean that any black youth can't be a great metal artist, it's just the facts of what exists today. It's up to bands like them (and more of them) to break the stereotype. I can't blame anyone who just assumed they would want to be rappers.
