Platy Fish Tank Setup and Requirements are fairly easy to accomplish. You should use an aquarium size of 10 gallons minimum with this fish. The water temperature for platy fish can range from 50° all the way to 78°F. You can feed them a general community flake food and they will do just fine. Take mates should include generic community tropical fish as long as you have the water temperature is correct with a heater involved.

I have a 20gallon that originally had platys. But they died so I went towards nano schooling fish (harlequin rasboras and cardinals) and 2 dwarf groumis. The tank ended up getting heaps of algae build up, despite having a bristle nose catfish. So I've restarted, bought new substrate. Took the old gravel and half the water out, cleaned and added new substrate and plants. Now it's a waiting game to add fish which are going to be platys. Despite the crazy breeding, my daughter loves them and they're not just easy to look after but their bright colours make the tank look so cool as well 👌

I think the most most important part of the process is the cycling part.

You should talk about that more. Tank, filter, gravel.
