Luke on his return: “He cut off my hand and threw a load of objects at me!”

Yoda: “Quit your bitching, you must. Whole senate thrown at me, I had.”

It was about two months. Give or take. It would have taken the Falcon two months to get to Bespin on sublight engine travel. Plus the time the falcon spent hiding in the asteroid field would have needed to be days, long enough for Vader to be frustrated enough to call for bounty hunters and to finally repair the falcon.

Never really thought it was a few hours. I always assumed it was a few days. Weeks makes since, but he really needed years.

The falcon was on the run for weeks! 😮

I always assumed a few months since the Falcon had to travel to Bespin without lightspeed.

I thought he was there for months.
Luke used a hyperdrive to get there.
The Falcon went from one system to another on sublight.
Now that I think if it, Luke should have trained, lived and died of old age before the Falcon crossed interstellar space on sublight engines.

I assumed that the training was just a day or two, but then I started thinking maybe time dilation was a factor if the planet was close to a gravity well or something...but somehow not close to be destroyed. Obviously the movie never suggests this, but it made sense to me as head cannon.

If the training lasted longer than a few weeks, than Luke wouldn't lose a hand.

Even as a kid, I always assumed it was a few weeks. The film made that pretty evident.

A few weeks and a reading of a master's journal doesn't make one strong enough to defeat the chosen one. Yet he somehow did crazily

What's interesting is that we all have our intuitive estimates and they all sort of work. The kid in me probably thought a day. The adult felt about 5 days. The old man feels it was either long enough to tell the story or completely unrealistic that Luke could stand a chance at surviving a guy that nearly defeated Kenobi...twice, even if Luke trained for a decade. I like the interpretation of the Bespin duel, that Vader is basically treating Luke like a chew toy; really just trying to bring him over to the Dark Side. Vader could have destroyed him instantaneously if he wanted.

Luke's daily schedule:

It was a few weeks cause the falcons hyperdrive was broken remember which can take weeks cause the nearest system was bespin

How long and how did he train before returning to Dagoba. Yoda said that he was ready to face Vader to become a jedi, which means that he trained somehow

I always assumed it was a month or so. Would have taken the Falcon awhile to get to Bespin without a hyperdrive. And it also seems that Luke progresses a lot on Dagobah and has a closer relationship with Yoda by the time he leaves.

During this time the millennium falcon is limping to cloud city on the back up hyperdrive and Han say's they can just make it. Since the Falcon has consumables for 2 months (at full crew) I always took it to be about that long.

I always figured it was a good 13~16 weeks. That’s the length of a bootcamp or full transformational exercise program. A solid foundation for Luke to build on, on his own.

That same time helps to account for Han and Leia to go from “like” and “lust” and irritation to a genuine bond where a real love and fondness could blossom - but that’s also the pragmatic romantic in me.

If you watch the movie it actually seems like it's like a day or two at the most

Idk I always figured it was a few weeks or so too . Dude was doing flips and handstands. Def made it seem like he was putting work. U cant just be popping those out after 2 days
