Hi!
A little addition to Jay Regular's nice explanations:
For my opinion, as using the "Auto ISO Settings", the photographer must first be able to answer this question: In spite of two auto ISO modes (with aperture and shutter priority) which camera already has for the correct exposure, what is the requirement of the ‘Auto ISO Settings’ application?
I think, in order to give a meaningful answer to this question, the photographer, firstly, must have determined his personal style and be able to predict his shooting conditions. If it is noted, there is no an "OFF" option in the "Auto ISO Settings" application! So, if this application is used without understanding, it can also lead to some unwanted restrictions. As an amateur photographer who attaches importance to both "photographic moment" and "photographic detail", I would like to present my Auto ISO Settings arrangement as a "personal" example: AUTO 1 (for shooting in high light and city life motion): Default Sensitivity: 160 iso; Max. Sen. : 800 iso; Min Shutter Speed: 1/250s. / AUTO 2 (In low light, without tripod): Default S. : 160; Max. S. : 1600; Min. S.S. : 1/100s. / AUTO 3 (Using tripod in high and low light): Default S. : 160 iso; Max. S. : 1600; Min S.S. : 1/4s.

Man, you're the best teacher for fujifilm settings in the entire youtube. Learning a lot with you here in the channel since I'm a begginer. Thank's a lot!

This channel has been amazing in helping me figure out my x100v. Bought one last week and you have no idea how much you helped me 🙏

Thank you for another well explained video Jay. I recently purchased a x100v, it is my first venture into photography and I am finding your videos a must watch to try and get my head around this new world.

This was extremely helpful...coming from someone who has NEVER owned a camera nor took a picture with another than my smart phone or disposable cameras back in the early 2000s....I just got this camera in particular and I am just trying to figure it all out. This helped..thank you.

Really great video!! Very well explained and I did not know about having the dynamic range set higher causing a higher minimum shutter speed. Really good to know

Thank you. Struggled with this today while holding an umbrella during a shoot in the typhoon.

Same as Ed, I didn't know that DR was not allowing lowest ISO in the bright environment. Thanks for pointing it out!

Quite well explained Jay!
Each sensor has its own base ISO at which is has the lowest level of noise but the often overlooked thing is the Dynamic range that gets tighter and tighter the higher the ISO is (in most cases). For me, grain/noise is less of an issue but compressing DR is pretty bad 😬

Hope it can help for folks!

Cheers

I shoot auto ISO on my 100v and leave DR at 100. All three auto settings are the same except shutter speed. I choose the auto setting that dictates what minimum shutter speed needed. I leave all max ISO settings at the max. I don't get why users want to use a lower ISO setting. The camera is going to always use the lowest ISO it can within the used F-stop and the set shutter speed. The Fuji 100v ISO is very usable at any ISO, much rather deal with a little grain than a blurry photo.

Excellent video. Just what the doctor ordered.

Wish there was a way to lock the Shutter Speed when shooting in Auto ISO. I don't like how the camera breaks the constraints. I just shoot manual, full control! lol Great video!

Hi Ed, great video. Having bought a X100V myself 3 weeks ago, I have clicked the Subscribe button straight away! I'm fairly new to the photography world, hence have a question for you: Do you think its best to have DR Priority on at all times, and change when required or have it on 100-200-400? I have a feeling that for street photography there are often high contrast sceneries (shades of building + clear skye). But then you just explained this could block the Auto IOS feature. I understand finding the right settings in certain situations is part of photography. But what do you have set as your basic settings when the camera is turned on. Maybe you could make a video on your C1 to C7 (custom settings) and explain when to use them?

It is important that the iso dial setting (A) is set to auto rather than command (wrench, button/dial settings, iso dial setting (A): auto).

Great info! I just subscribed! I just bought the exact same camera. When I put the camera in “full auto” mode, both shutter and iso on “red A” on top dials, my iso stays at maximum sensitivity on my screen. It won’t budge when I move to different lighting in my surroundings. Someone told me to press the shutter half way to see if it changes. However, it does not. Any suggestions? I sure hate to have to reset my settings. Thank you!
