Literally all the games are impressive. The quality and the creativity is beyond my imagination, proving we we are living the golden age of retro gaming. In addition, congrats Louie for the flawless execution of this award! I think you became the most credible and well-produced C64 “outlet” of our time!

I was really surprised about the low placing of Isle of the Cursed Prophet. I couldn't get on with Hawksmill because of the aiming mechanism / limited ammo / no save and IotCP suited me much better. Looking at your footage of Hawksmill today, maybe I was too quick to give up on that one and will return to it this year. I've been meaning to try M&M after recommendations from other places too, so that one's a definite too. Thanks for showcasing this 'best of 2020' list. An amazing year for games, if not in other respects.

On a list where MW Ultra only finishes 5th, you know you're dealing with some steep competition, dang....

It's such a shame MW Ultra didn't win GOTY, it's one of the best games of the year not just for C64, definitely my personal GOTY.
The price shouldn't have been an issue considering you get 8-12 hours of a wonderful sci-fi/cyberpunk style adventure for that money.
It took me 12 hours to beat the game, I bought the physical, cart release and it was incredible every step of the way...except the damn wildlife in the woods but that wasn't that big a deal either.
Zeta Wing is wonderful too, but I would've placed it second and MW Ultra first :)

A good year for the C64. I was very surprised by Isle of the Cursed Prophet. Im not normally a fan of these types of games but it grabed me and i played it until i finished it. Great game. Hawksmill looks and play great but i found it far to hard and those restarts after dying became quite frustrating. All the others were great. The only one that sort of dissapointed me was MW Ultra. Its definately a great game; im just crap at it. I cant help compare it to Steel Ranger either, which is my fave modern C64 game and possible contender for best C64 game ever. I think i need to sit down with MW again.

Super Mario Bros, and donkey kong Jr were awesome new games brought to the commodore 64.
