Hey whatsup guys OSG back with another C64 video and in this one Ill be taking a look at what I would say are the 20 best Commodore 64 Games that were released after the C64 ceased production.
Ok so way back in 1982 our beloved C64 was launched and it didn’t have a short life as it was around until 1994 which as far as computers go that’s a good innings. During this time we got some great games but it became apparent that with time the coders had become better at making games and some of the best games on the system were developed right at the end of the systems lifetime like Project Fire Start, Mayhem in Monsterland etc.
After this most developers moved to other systems like the Amiga etc. but luckily for us a hand full of developers still developed for the system knocking out some real quality games and in more recent years developers have actually made games so good that if we were shown them back in the day, we wouldn’t have believed they were on the systems at all.

Right so I’ve trawled the net and played loads of new games and this is what I would consider the 20 best in order of greatness.

Hey there :) Thanks for the lovely words about Sonic the Hedgehog. I highly appreciate it (I am part of the dev team).
Btw if you like Metal Warrior 4 you might love MW Ultra which is a highly polished reboot of that series. One of the best games I have ever played on the C64.

There's something special about the c64 music and will always have a place in my heart 🙏🏽

Sonic and Mario on the C64 to that standard, wow! Never thought the system would be capable! Would love to see one of these lists for the Amiga!

Just imagine if some of these games were released back in the early 80s. Mind blown.

This is why I prefer good old home computers over consoles. The homebrew scene is insane. There's o many great new games and ports for Commodores/Amigas, Ataris, MSX and Speccys. Holy crap. The scene is exploding with fantastic stuff. 🤯🕹️

I bought Super Bread Box a month or two ago and couldn't believe it was possible in the c64. It just plays so well.

I was hoping that "You have to win the game" by Kabuto (2012) would make it on the list. I loved it. Great game, even by modern standards.

Awesome video and great list. I actually still get goosebumps when I see Sam’s Journey. And i am still waiting for the sequel. I do miss Zeta Wing. For me that is the best shoot em up in years. Of course Soul Force is fantastic as well. 🤗😊😊😊

Boom...wow...now those are some memories unlocked. I remember this game not only because it's a Doom clone (more or less) but also because it was the first C64 game I played that was made by Hungarians.

Brilliant video as always and just goes to show we don’t constantly need new hardware.

Sorry for commenting so many times during the same video I promise this is the last one, but my jaw dropped when you showed Sonic the Hedgehog... that's without a doubt some of the beautifully done in-game art I've seen on the C64, period.

Woah, I did not even know about the Sonic port. That looks amazing. that would look good on the Amiga never mind the c64.

Sam's Journey reminds me of Kid Chameleon on SEGA Genesis. I really like this game and it's mindblowing that there's similar game on C64. I hope it will get ports for other platforms too.

It's awesome when people keep an old system/computer alive by making new games for it.

Oh, and your new puppy is SO CUTE!

Funny you mention that Prince of Persia has folks thinking they played it on C64 back when, as for me that culprit is Donkey Kong Jr. could have sworn I played that on the old breadbin.

Mind blown. If only these had been around back in the day.

All great games, never seen Boom before. I'm one of those who hated Super Bread Box i just got so board with it after a 10 minutes so never got off that first level, and never got into soulless. The two id swap them for would be Bomber land and Briley Witch, i also thought Planet Golf was a bit overlooked. 👍

So many games I'm going to have to check out now. I'd only heard of a few of these on the C64.

Wow thankyou - so many cool games. ~It blows me away that they managed to do Sonic on a c64 considering the speed required. Mario Bros was also as surprise, but technically a bit easier to pull off than Sonic. So happy the c64 still lives on ! 8-)
