How To Create Sticky (Post-it) Notes With OneNote 2013

I use Microsoft OneNote frequently in my daily workflow both at home and work. I also use Post-Its at the office to take notes in meetings where I don't want to lug around my laptop. I often want to translate those post-its back into one-note, but there are no options available by default within the program itself.

You'd think you could just color the text box or group a drawing with some text, unfortunately Microsoft doesn't think Grouping is a valid workflow for OneNote, even though its perfectly fine in their other software packages like Vizio.

This video offers a relatively quick tutorial for how you can make simple post-it notes within OneNote using tables

The cork board texture I use as a background can be found at Fuzzimo

This is exactly what I was looking to do. Create fixed boxes with customize-able background colors which I could then freely move around the page for my OneNote Kanban Board!

We were looking at how to make a digital Kanban at our office since we have different regions and can't do this physically. This really helped! Thanks!

perfect, thanks. For so many years, MS don't want to add this.

Fantastic and creative way to maximize the use of tables.  And, presented clearly.  Thanks!!!

I had to watch it a few times, but I did figure it out.  I've set up several pages in OneNote with this format. I'm looking forward to trying it out.  Thank you for sharing.

Amazing the lengths people go to in order to make OneNote semi decent to use, even in 2022 this hasn't got any easier / better. Miro / Mural etc are light years ahead with this stuff - Microsoft has clearly missed the boat on this type of visual management.

Thank you for this. Love the cork board background! Doing this with One Note still a lot of setup work, and it's not easy to get strangers to produce their own stickies "during the heat of the meeting." For collaborating with distributed groups, my go to tool is still Google Drawing (make a box, and you copy paste a stack of notes, and you can type onto the boxes). It's just a lot easier to do this.

But in the case where the environment I'm working in is dominated by Microsoft tools, maybe I can get this will work. I'll give it some time.

To make the first few stickies the same depth, did you just add extra Enters to the table?

The sticky notes does not allow us to paste pictures in it. Is there a way we can use OneNote to stick to the desktop, so that it remains there even after a restart.

I have One_Note 2013, and when I select all and right click, I don't have a table option on the menu. I have everything else EXEPT table, from what I can see in the video. Any idea why? Thanks!
