Nova Motorcycles-1964 Norton Atlas 750

Показать описание
We've got a Brit-American style custom Norton Atlas in for some clutch work, and we thought we should take a closer look. While Sayre loves the patina of a used hard and put away wet bike, this is a beautiful example of a love affair between owner and machine that has been carefully crafted and curated. Whatever your personal opinion is, this bike turns heads and gets people talking, and in our book we think that's alright.

You should do a quick interview with the owner. that would be interesting

looks a bit German too, like an old Beemer. Quite a fusion.

I actually like this. I realise it has Americana on it, but it isn't bad at all. It still looks classic, neat and balanced. Neat.

There were many more Triumph dealers than Norton, so more parts and engines were available to make a Triton, if you had a sought-after Featherbed frame. I agree, Triumphs weren't faster, I have both. But one very early Norton dealer, Sunset Motors in Racine, Wisconsin, produced the Hogslayer, a twin-engine Norton ridden by TC Christianson. First bike to break into 7 seconds in the quarter mile and faster top fuel bike for several years!

beautiful bike, back in the day I had a Norton 600 which I believe started life as a Dominator but I bought it with a fibreglas tank, struts instead of shocks and a 6 inch over front end and of course ape hangers and yes it did have flames on the tank and cool side pipes, very soon after I bought it the struts got very old so I found a pair of shocks from I believe a BSA and vastly improved the ride, then I was reading about extended forks and they warned about what was termed slugs which were 6 inch extensions to the stock fork tubes which left the forks vunerable to breakage from an impact on the front because the forks were only supported by the bottom clamp of the neck instead of both of them, inspection revealed that indeed the slugs were in place but not for long, so then I had a Noron with flames, ape hangers and cool side pipes, perfect for the juvenile idiot I was, hard to believe that was 54 years ago and a lot of bikes ago too

I've never seen an Atlas with handlebars like that. The Norton Hi-Rider had high western chopper bars, but not beach bars like that.

That's a really cool bike. There's a few things I don't like about it and a bunch of things I love about it. It looks like it's comfortable as all hell to ride with those wide bars. The painted hubs and spokes are one of the elements I can't decide if I like or not. I think I'd learn to love it if it was sitting in my garage.

Did these bikes have a harmonic counter balancer?
