The parking brakes are spring loaded. It cannot rollaway by itself. When you push in the parking brake button, it charges the system with air that releases the spring brake system. When you pull the button out it evacuates the system and the springs engage to lock the brakes. If the valve is leaking it can leak the air pressure down to a point around 50 pounds and the button will pop out automatically and engage the parking brakes. This is a very common occurrence with worn valves, but uncommon with new ones. This is a very simple fix done in less than an hour. People that don't know anything about air brake systems are making a big deal about a simple fix.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla ends up fabricating their own brake module after Bendex screwed this one up. Tesla likes eliminating potential sources of failure.

With air breaks, if they fail due to a leak, the problem will be that you can't move, not that the vehicle won't stop (most of the time)

I love this truck, it is an amazing piece of engineering and I'm hoping to see many of its innovations and first design principles brought to market (not the least of which being a truss). That being said, it's ugly AF from most angles.
