I imagine a lot of you have other places you’d consider the most boring place in GTA 5; feel free to reply to this comment to tell me what they are.

Not lying, I did get on the pedestrian bridge in my vanilla playthrough of GTA V cause there's a marathon misson when you have to run on one of it.

I remember when I was 16, my gf at the time and I would play online and when we heard about the buyable houses coming out, we spent hours just driving and flying around looking at all the houses in the game being like “this one is super nice look at the pool” and “this one has multiple parking spots for all of our friends”. Crazy to think that was more than 10 years ago and she ended up being a catfish.
Time flies. Anyways, love the video

If memory serves, that island at 11:10 does have a use - It's one of the random places where Trevor can wake up if you switch to him after not playing as him for a while.

with 2000 hours in GTA V, my car crew and I love doing meetups in some of the spots you mentioned. we love them for the same reason you do- they are off the beaten path. thank you for showcasing some of our favorite spots!

One of my favorite moments playing GTA Online happened almost precisely where your character is standing when the most boring place was announced. A couple friends and I were attempting to escape some rival players, but we were in an offroad truck, and they were chasing us in much faster vehicles. So we took it from the highway to those mountains. I also once landed there after having my plane shot down and was pursued across the mountainside— the different terrain made it hard enough to pursue me that I escaped. I think empty places can present interesting challenges and scenarios.

I love it when people have favorite spots that are unimportant in games, I still remember a specific apartment unit in Celadon City (in Pokemon Crystal) that, if I remember correctly, just had an old lady with a few Pokemon. I used to sit there with her and pretend I was her grandkid that came to visit. None of my friends ever know what I'm talking about, but that apartment unit is so important to me.

That area in the map you said was the most boring is where I go to perform a ritual to induct a new bike/atv I get.
Step 1: ride your new vehicle from your home in Los Santos all the way to the mountain. This lets you get a feel for it and test it out on not just road, but also dirt.
step 2: there is a campsite near the base of where the trail going up begins that always spawns a car. Destroy the care using only a gas can and a single bullet to light the fuel. I personally find that pouring gas on the tires is a good way to make it explode.
step 3: ride to the lake and swim a lap. This helps you appreciate nature and is generally a nice place to swim. If your vehicle cannot make it up the steep inclines of the trail, then you may need to consider selling it.
step 4: ride to the small pond further along the trail and swim in that one too. consider how your bike has handled so far, does it need different tires or any upgrades?
step 5: ride all the way back home.

I can't explain why I made this ritual. But I like doing it and it's fun so that's all that matters.

The pedestrian walkway bridge is used for the optional side missions where Trevor starts a relationship with an insane athletic woman who makes him race her.

I recently replayed Arkham Asylum and came to the conclusion that if you were a maintenance man for the place you could never access all the areas you'd need to and I think you may just be the man to test this theory. The Weekly Planet Podcast recommended your channel and I love it already.

You should do this in Cyberpunk 2077

What makes that setting interesting is that even the less active, deserted parts of the map usually have something going on, and even the areas people "aren't supposed to go to" have homeless people or gang members hanging out in the trash

If you make enough of these videos you will become a master of GTAGuessr ha… that’s GeoGuessr in GTA 5 for those unfamiliar.

I think the "boring" wilderness is absolutely necessary for world-building and the feeling of verisimilitude. The knowledge that there is more out there that doesn't have a gameplay purpose and is off the beaten path makes the world feel real and increases the immersion. A counter to that are those open-world games where everything is crammed so close to each other that the missions the NPCs give you become ridiculous. Like that one mission in Horizon: Zero Dawn where you have to find a dude who has hurt himself and needs help "in the wilderness" and in reality he is like two stones' throw away from the camp; you can see the front gates from where he is.

I was playing the sims 4 a few days ago and I thought about you. I was exploring the base game constructions in first person mode and this was so strange. Many constructions in the early DLC were designed with top view consideration only and with the idea that players will improve those. I also assume that they wanted to restrict the number of objects for a smoother 3D render. But when you move in first person, you start to realize how weird it is. The windows are sometimes to high to even see outside or a positioned in weird ways. Some bedrooms are almost jail like, having flat walls with only a bed, a lamp and a side table. Ceilings are sometimes crazy tall with nothing decorating them. When floors are high, there is always a good change to encounter a crazy narrow stair that will feel ultra claustrophobic to ciimb. You can also see bits of roof clipping inside the houses. Everything just feels off but familiar at the same time. This is a pure liminal fest, especially when there are no sims around.

If you want a suggestion, here is one: Try to visit houses from the Sims 4 and present them as a real estate agent trying to sell, an independent certified real estate appraiser or a potential buyer. You will have some serious fun!

One of my favorite experiences in an open world game was when I went to the volcano in Just Cause 3. It's really far from any of the other islands, and it's really just there as a dramatic backdrop for the final boss, but if you get curious, you can just fly there! It features some of the most vertical terrain in the game, so it's great for wing-suit stunts and general movement. The game drops you off there after the credits roll, so it's clear it was meant as a little post-game treat, but I love that you can just go there if you want.

Austin, even your spot for the most boring isn't as boring as it seems - one of the in-game ghosts haunts the area at night! She comes out between 11pm and 12am and you can hear her screaming sometimes
