I wish his advice had been available to me when I was 20! But I am grateful to have it in my old age 😅

100% agree with Peterson. I once worked at a startup which was painfully inefficient. The managers spent all their time on people who refused to produce but knew how to create a scene. The result was that people who actually wanted to work couldn't work because there was no time for them available. and the people who did nothing anyway continued to do nothing, but get all the valuable time from the managers. When I told them this was a waste of time, they told me ''but it is sympathetic to look after the and who else is going to?''. I learned that the same startup went bankrupt not much after I left.

I had my own company for seven grueling years. I was kind and caring and coddled my worst workers... Lost everything. All the help was shot back in my face like buckshot at a Dick Cheney hunting party and i was the guy hit repeatedly. No tears for me, or the SLIGHTEST effort. I may have as well been a total monster. My kindness and help was worth absolutely NOTHING. What Jordan is saying is very spot on. That :cruel feeling is REAL... I had real troubles with it. Let all the employees go and did the closure of the business myself. Then reopend with no employees and just myself and dragged myself from NEGATIVE 250k to just plain broke over 3 years. did not go bankrupt... a mistake... and paid everything back to creditors. The plan was to suicide after that... but i saw my mistakes and decided to live for a bit longer and let nature decide. KINDNESS KILLS THE Caregiver. Don't let low functioning people destroy your business dreams. Do it yourself only for as long as you can then get ready for a huge upheaval once you get about 3 employees going (technical businesses most importantly). I will never do that again.

I read Crime and Punishment in high school, and it greatly affected me. I went on to read Brothers Karamazov and other works by Dostoyevsky. Maybe one reason I find Peterson so compelling is because I also found a lot of truth in those books. I also have found the greatest adventure of my life to be trying to follow the greatest commandments Christ taught, to love God with all my heart, mind, and strength, and to love others as myself. Those are pretty hard concepts to put into real practice. I find myself working on them repeatedly. And I find myself inspired by Peterson repeatedly. This was a great conversation/lecture.
