Have an exact similar modell, a Marantz CD-73 from 1983.
Bought as not working for a 6:th of its retailed price, and restored the CD player myself.
Have replaced all of the electrolytic capacitors on every circuit board, replaced a broken switch that detects the door when it is closed to make the "stand by" lamp turn on so it will play the CD's.
Did a voltage check and adjustment on the PSU board behind the CD-player (the part with a heatsink) to make sure it delivers the proper power accordingly to the service manual.
Changed the 8V ac lamp in the COMPACT DISC-logo to a white LED (this to maintain the light blue colour) powered from the 5V dc rail in the PSU board with a current limiting resistor.

Have used it very well for over 4 years now since the repair, still works like a charm despite being 40 years old.
Nice to have a first model containing the OG Philips CDM-0 mechanism designed in 1982 for the CD-100 top loader.

I love how industrial those cd transport draws are .

Makes the furniture shake when it closes .

I recently bought a used Philips cd304 mkII. One of the few players with the solid CDM1 drives and a digital output. Solid 16bit no-nonsense player.

Looks cool as hell. Also looks like a real pain to fix if/when something inside fails.

No CD Player but I do have a Pioneer SX-737 that I've had since my father gave it to me about 30 years ago now. Still have it hooked up to the original Pioneer speakers my dad purchased with the SX-737. Love it! ❤

That is more than high end. Its a unique gadget. I own a Softone Model 3 player. I suppose its high end since it uses a Philips Pro2 mechanism and is top loading.

I've got a Sony CDP-R1 with DAS-R1. These are really great builds with high quality.

Damn, that looks straight out of the Dead Space videogame lol... The violent mechanical aspect of it is cool and scary at the same time
