Electric Light Orchestra ~ Last Train To London 1979 Disco Purrfection Version

"Last Train To London" was the final single issued from ELO's greatest accomplishment, "Discovery" from 1979. Their foray into disco brought a new rock element to it, different from what Donna Summer did. For me it was an easy transition since the band has always incorporated stringed and electrified strings to create their unique Beatlesque sound, right from "Showdown".

Many, many, many (about one hundred) requests have been for me to remix this one, but until recently, did not have the tech knowledge. I'm learning as I go along and try to perfect these remixes whenever I can, but in the absence of the master recording, I have to separate the vocals and the instruments. ELO's music does this perfectly, but other artists music is not as perfect sounding due to mike placements and bleed through, which is what happens when the song is recorded live with everyone in the studio and the instruments/vocals can be heard in the background of the other tracks. It does not make for a clean sound so I am not able to remix certain songs until I figure out how to correct that.

Its a great song that peaked at #39 in the summer of 1980 but has gained a huge audience since then and become a classic. If you like this one, I think that "Diary Of Horace Wimp" could follow sometime soon.

To me, I think elo were a very underrated band. They had many top 40 hits and it's a shame they never hit #1

Jeff Lynne is a musical genius, and now is recognized as such in Cats mixes. Keep em coming I can't get enough of this band.

I know this album by heart. It was on rotation in my high school bus - on 8-track. The other choices were Abba - Voulez Vous, Supertramp - Breakfast In America, Trooper - Hot Shots, Pat Benatar's first release, and a few k-tel issues of the day.

But I really want tonight to last forever...

One of their many underrated hits. This and Can't Get It Outta My Head are secret bangers.

Since I've first heard this song... I was 11 years old in 1993 and these parts around 4:50 and 6:35 echoed in my head for years. Before I rediscovered it, first I had to study English (I'm Brazilian) and get access to internet.

Always loved this tune and always will.🥰 Thank you for this version, like the others always expanding the possibilities created by the artists.👍

I’m over the moon with this extended version of my favorite ELO track ! Mr. Jeff Lynne is a genius who always stays in tune with his creativity whether for ELO or his collaborations with Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Olivia Newton John or the Travelling Wilburys. Thanks for reworking DJDiscoCat !

Well I'm a " Brummie " from Birmingham, England. Just like the brilliant ELO are. I remember this in the charts in '79. They probably got the train from New Street, Birmingham to get down to Euston in London.
A fantastic mix yet again DJ DiscoCat, have to be honest here it's a pity this mix wasn't on this album. Thanks once again .

Jeff Lynne is the truest astounding master lyricist, genius of melody. He’s produced so many A-list musicians, it’s crazy not many know this!
But of course he shares my bday 😍!
Fr real though I made it a point to ride the “Last Train To London” (from Edinburgh Waverley) while I was there last year…. 🥰

One of the best ELO songs. Thet knew how to write and make music from Jeff Lynn. I love to dance and sing to this one. Great job.

Oh wow -- that drop to just the base lines and drums in the first 40 seconds was so good! Remains one of my favorite feel-good songs from '79.
