The Chinese Communist Party celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding with a ceremony in Tiananmen Square. President Xi said the "great rejuvenation" of China is "irreversible."
Xi Jinping struck a defiant tone during a major address celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Beijing on Thursday. Xi told a massive audience gathered at Tiananmen Square that "the era of China being slaughtered and bullied is gone forever. Anyone who dares try to do that will have their heads bashed bloody against the Great Wall of steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people," the Chinese leader added to roaring applause. He credited the CCP with lifting millions of Chinese out of poverty and said it has built a "moderately prosperous society" during its 100-year reign.

In regards to China's security, Xi said during his speech that the China "must accelerate the modernization of national defense and the armed forces." Under Xi, China has increased the size of its military, and has built outposts on islands in the South China Sea, while claiming most of the waters as Chinese territory. On Taiwan, Xi said he wants to achieve "complete reunification" of the country and "smash" any efforts to grant the island independence from the mainland. Taiwan responded shortly after Xi's speech, saying that its determination to defend its sovereignty and democracy remained unchanged.

CCP Chairman Mao Zedong established the People's Republic of China in 1949 amid a civil war. Xi has become the country's most powerful leader since Mao, and has added his name to the country's constitution. Since his 8 years in power, Xi has marshaled major domestic and foreign policy reforms by launching an anti-corruption campaign, silencing dissent domestically, and boosting China's global influence through the Belt and Road Initiative development strategy. He has also been criticized by Western countries for putting members of the Muslim Uyghur minority into what are called "reeducation camps," but are considered by human rights groups to be internment camps where grave abuses are taking place. In 2022, the current Politburo Standing Committee is expected to step down and announce new leaders. The question looming over next year's party congress is whether Xi will revive Mao's title of party chair, potentially allowing him to remain in power longer.

Some country: "Do not bully us"
The west: "Are you threatening me?"

"Get their heads bashed"? Use a better translator that actually understands regional slang! It means an attacker will find themselves running headfirst into a wall. It's a defensive saying, not an offensive saying. The wall is immovable, they will not pass through it.

This is the full sentence. “We Chinese are a people who uphold justice and are not intimidated by threats of force. As a nation, we have a strong sense of pride and confidence. We have never bullied, oppressed, or subjugated the people of any other country, and we never will. By the same token, we will never allow any foreign force to bully, oppress, or subjugate us. Anyone who would attempt to do so will find themselves on a collision course with a great wall of steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people.”

頭破血流 which would literally be translated to “bashing heads”, but it doesn’t actually mean that. It’s a grammatical technique called 誇張 (exaggeration) to indicate deeper meanings. In this case, 頭破血流 would translate to “have serious consequences”.

Edit: guys chill this is just a clarification for y’all to not misunderstand the phrase

If Chinese said they will no longer be bullied 10 years ago, people would just laughed at him. Now it's the perfect time to say it.

the western countries should and need to review their own colonial history to understand why people around the world consider them "bullies". it is well justified.

To be fair, if my country was surrounded by US military bases, warships, and allies, I'd be pissed too.

The irony that the people making all these comments defending the CCP wouldn't even be able to legally watch this video and post in the comment section from mainland China. It's easy to defend the CCP while enjoying their rights from the abroad.

It’s true, if ur country was invaded by Britain, France, Russia, US, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Spain since 1840, and almost completely conquered by Japan during the WW II, what would u think about today’s western countries? That’s what China experienced.

In my city Shanghai, there's a one park kept a old sign(100 years ago), it says "Dogs and Chinese no ADMITTANCE". Those days are long gone, but we still have to remember it to make sure it wont happen again.

If you just take out all the noise the media is making and look at the result and progress, it's hard to believe that the Chinese government do not care about its people. It has improved life for it's citizen and made significant progress in innovation and environment.Take out the noise, the result speaks for itself.
