The Maple Leafs announced on Wednesday that goaltender Matt Murray will be placed on LTIR to start the 2023-24 season. With Murray being injured, he couldn't be bought out by the Maple Leafs. Murray going on LTIR puts the Maple Leafs only $2.1M over the salary cap. What happens next? I try to solve that in today's video. I hope you enjoy!!

Those projected lines aren’t right. They are definitely playing Domi, Matthews and Marner together. Which leaves Bertuzzi, Tavares and Nylander. So Kampf would by default be the 3rd line center with Jarnkrok on his RW and Knies or Holmberg on his LW.

Edit: I think they trade or buy out Brodie.. Perhaps they move Jarnkrok or Kampf.

The Leafs can't just 'say' someone is injured as the league verifies all LTIR assignments. My understanding is he was going to be bought-out, but he couldn't pass the medical, so why wouldn't they put him on LTIR, as I sure as hell would.

Getting ready to lose a couple players for nothing due to Waiver claims. Goodbye Connor. Unless of course, Leafs put folks like Giordano or Tavares on waivers. Gio pulls a Spezza and threatens to retire and nobody wants Johns contract. But like, ok, guess you didn't want to win that night if you do send them down.

Everyone knew he was going to Robidas Island if they could't trade him.
