Japhet's story is one of the most depressing in the game. He created a utopia for his people but lost his mind when the same people he created a world for turned against him. It's got that Old Testament vengeful god feeling to it.

Off has got to be the only game I've seen that consistently goes "Yeah, we've got a banger track here. Let's only have half of it play in-game"

OFF was an amazing game, through and through. It's a shame it had kind of a flash-in-the-pan status, being popular for like a year then fading again. It truly deserves more praise than it has.

all of the characters in this game are extraordinarily well made. none of them are one-sided. each of them have their own dreary, complex story. each of them have interesting personalities. they were all, at a point, kindhearted with good, pure intentions. what an...obsessively appealing concept. it’s a shame this RPG didn’t have so much time in the spotlight. a parallel, really: the characters within the story died too soon, and so did the game’s fanbase itself.

although japhet wasn't my favorite boss, i can't help but appreciate the absolute CHAOS his theme represents. pretty much every other boss fight, you know the guardian's physical appearance and can see their weakness. even with enoch, you have the conversation before the first fight, and the fakeout and chase scene. with japhet, he only reveals his true form after the battle starts, meaning the batter must adopt a strategy on the fly, hence causing a much more chaotic theme. the most evident piece of this is in the drum samples. it borderlines breakcore with how intense and fast they are.

Just a thought: you know how “Minuit A Fond La Caisse” translates to “midnight at full speed/blast/velocity”?

What if the intended meaning was, “midnight approaching quickly”, referring to how this music represents Japhet—and how he knows that the Batter will kill him?

Japhet knows the end—the night—is approaching soon.

This theme actually sounds pretty damn sad
It fits Japhet's desire to die because he couldn't bear the weight of his sin :V

it upsets me that so many people view japhet as pure evil just because he killed a cat.
Thats not the point. He was focused on providing happiness and wellness to his people but it fell on deaf ears, driving him insane, instead of being praised and worshiped like he wanted, he was eaten by a cat who underestimated him.

Japhet made a utopia for the Elsans but went crazy when they turned against him and wanted to destroy them.When you faced him he realised that what he did was evil and justified his own death.
