An older brother who felt guilt over not being able to protect his family, the middle child who is overcome with grief and longs to see his lost love again, and a little brother who wished to hide from it all.

I have a different theory about the Resurrection Stone: during a high-school biology class, we cut open the eye of a cow and there was a glass-like lens inside. A part of a thestral's eye seems fitting for an object that lets you see the dead, much more so than a bezoar.

I like the idea of a bezoar being the basis for the resurrection stone. But, what if it was an attempt at the philosopher's stone? If the wife of the second brother was sick, and the second brother set to alchemy to cure her but failed, it's fitting to pivot to trying to resurrect or at least communicate with her. Using his knowledge of alchemy, he was able to create a stone with properties to reach the other side of the veil. He was no longer interested in eternal life, but one step further in resurrecting the dead, fell short and was only able to communicate with the dead instead.

In the theory fandom, Cadmus pevrell created the veil as a gateway to death, but it was one way, so he created the resurrection stone to bring the dead back, but it didn’t work and he was so distraught he created the cruciatus curse

Antioch created the mirror of erised to show you what you desire, then he created the elder wand to accomplish what you desire and cannot be defeated, then created avada kedavra, a spell that cannot be blocked

Ignotius created the pensive to be invisible to people in his own thoughts, then created the invisibility cloak to be invisible in the present, then created imperius to control other people’s thoughts

The rain in the background while talking about Harry Potter is a mood.

this makes a lot of sense. the older brother after the death of the seconds fiancee wished to be able to fight off those that killed her, went looking for them and died. the second wishes to see his beloved again. the third wished he could have hid her so she would have died so he made a cloak that could do just that. each created something to cope with the grief they felt in their own way.

Something I found out and thought was interesting was that the Cloak was the only object *unique* to Death himself. In the story, Death grabbed a stick from a tree and gave it to Antioch. Then, he plucked a stone from the river and gave it to Cadmus. Finally, Death gave his *own* Cloak of Invisibility to Ignotus.

Can you imagine being accused of witchcraft, you try to deny it, and then *POOF!*
A sword falls out of your hat. How do you get out of that? 🤣

I recently convinced myself that Harry's repaired holly and Phoenix-feather wand can also repair wands now, since Ollivander told us that wands and wizards share a mutual quest for knowledge and abilities, and Harry's wand has once before imbibed power from another's wand. I believe both wizard and wand learned a new skill from the Elder Wand.

My personal theory on the cloak:

The cloaks opaque side is always described as looking silvery, so what if it actually IS silver?
All of the objects that have kept enchantments for long periods of time seem to have some sort of metal component, and we know that goblin metal absorbs that which makes it stronger. So the cloak could be a brocade of goblin made silver which is why it's able to hold on to the disillusionment charm for so long. This is also supported by the cloaks appearance in the films, which is rather like a brocade.

How did they make these magical objects?

Me: uh.. magic?

I've always just assumed the locket literally just has a "regular" portrait of Slytherin in it, and since he can speak parceltongue and knows where his own chamber of secrets so it wouldn't really need any additional magic for any of that

The scene where J says “Nailed it” makes me laugh a little bit.

I like the idea, it seems plausible. However i would imagine that there is more to them than just harvesting the raw materials. There might be certain enchantments done to the invisibility cloak to to change the power to be permanent. The same goes for the stone, maybe there is some sort of alchemical procedure you do to a thestral bezoar in order to create a resurrection stone

Imo, the thing about the resurrection stone in Harry's case boils down to the basic strength behind magic that is intent. His intent behind using the stone wasn't to bring back his loved ones and force them to live forever with him. Instead he wanted them to help him with strength so that he could meet Death, or rather his fate/friend, quicker. He wasn't avoiding or refuting the inevitable rather pushing himself further towards it. It is both a testament to his character and the intent with which the stone is used.

It is interesting that while we even see some of the students creating magic items such as the potter stinks pins and the DA coins, that we never have any kind of magical item creation class which I feel like would be really helpful. Based on the nature of the magic Charms class seems like it might overlap, but who knows.

14:53: Aren't Thestrals carnivores? I mean those can produce bezoars, but I don't think they stay long enough to get to the "stone" stage since the animal expells them through the mouth. And they usually made mostly out of hair and maybe bones. Not quite like the description.

So still going off of your theory it's now my head cannon that the second brother used a uniquely large Thestral kidney stone to make the resurrection stone.

I always imagine how filming goes. Just mid sentence: oh whoops sorry, need to scoot over to the left.
A sentence later: oh time to scoot over here.
