I appreciate your content. You seem very matter of fact and no BS when it comes to information sharing and calling it like it is. Big up yourself; you got a subscriber all the way in Barbados. We have a pretty decent budding evo community here but parts (mainly 7/8/9) are difficult to come by and shipping is insane, however, we keep doing our thing. Always good to have content to share with the guys and gals here in the evo community. Keep it coming

Standalone to me regardless if you are built, bolt ons etc is
1. A safety measure (like you said 1 unit that controls/shows the data you need and has built/set safety precautions)
2. Optimized for your setup and not a generic flash or something along those lines
3. Option to expand features (cruise control, anti lag, boost by gear etc)

Ofcourse it all depends on the budget you have etc, but I think a decent haltech or link will pay itself back when 1 day it WILL catch the error and shuts the car off and saves your engine.
While a simple piggyback or equivalent will keep running untill it is to late.

It is clear that a standalone unit is better than the stock one, but with all the cons it has, price and finding a good tuner that makes it work well, I prefer to spend that money on something else. There have also been updates to the stock unit's software that allow you to do more than the originally did. But, if you have money, a standalone is a good recommendation

Finding a GOOD Tuner is a MASSIVE ISSUE!!!They take no liability if they blow your motor...So do your research carefully. Most of these GARBAGE tuners try to make you believe your choice of parts was bad or your expectations were to high and the parts you picked normally RUN like CRAP but ALWAYS make POWER.Depending on the platform your tuning find a good "shop" that can do a "install" and "tune it" and not be HACKS at it is even harder. From my personal experience dealing mostly with JDM shops and tuners 80% of them are I have dealt with MANY so called JDM shops on the east coast and depending on which JDM car we are talking about most of them are complete TRASH, just do the install yourself and find a good tuner ONLY, or just learn to tune "yourself". For those who love there CAR/Projects and HAVE a DEEP passion for this hobby/sport YOU should diff take some EFI class's online to learn to tune a car, it could re-educate you on your expectation vs REALITY and also what's good for "streetablity vs FULL RACE". After Leaning ALOT about tuning I have readjusted my expectations for a street performance vs "full Race parts". Building a FULL-BLOWN RACE CAR is easy....build a performance street car and keeping good driveabilty is REALLY HARD.
