The hardest skill to pick up on is social engineering. And it's the most important one.
Because we're human, we tend to make mistakes. Social engineering forces the person not in the know to make the mistake because of trust.
I learned some of the tricks by selling corn on the beach. You need to gain trust with people so that they'll buy from you. The same with social engineering. Sometimes, you need to trick in to buying your corn by initiating small talk about something like hunger. If putting the same example to hacking, you can get a lot. For example, where the employees go on lunch breaks. Because you can have devices like Proxmark, to scan the badge and clone it.
