The utter desolation shown at 3:25 is one of the most chilling moments of any souls game for me. Every place you've visited over the course of the game turned to so much rubble and ash. The sky bleeding a sickly light. The age of fire stretched so very far beyond its intended length. Moreso than any other area in a souls game, this place speaks to me of a true finality.

Philianore's sleep kept the city safe from the passage of time. By waking her up the seal is broken, as it's her "egg".
That weird object was most likely what kept the flow of time at bay.
And when it broke, what came out of it?
Light.
As the "repair weapon" spell says, light is time.
When philianore's egg broke it's like if a million years passed in a second.
It's the end of the worlds.
