I’m so angry at the legacy media who are calling this a recall. I’ve got a Hyundai i30 N which is subject to a recall, the earliest I can get in for it’s software update is mid March. Next car will be a Tesla. BTW in Australia, Tesla was the highest selling sedan and highest selling SUV in January.

Props to Jim and Ford for being so candid. I can’t wait to see their Q1 earnings with Ford Blue and Ford model e broken out.

I think that Farley is positioning Ford to spin-off the EV division as a separate company, and going to a direct sales model. Innovation belongs to the upstarts, so he needs to create a new upstart to bring his costs in line with Tesla’s. Just a thought . . .

9:37 that’s a really interesting observation that should give everyone pause before jumping to conclusions.

A sub-par worker is absolutely incentivized to pursue unionization: if you succeed you’re harder to fire and if you fail you can blame your impending dismissal as “retaliation”

i’m an automotive mechanic and as far as i know all vehicles have a lot of recalls but the different is they are not in the main news except Tesla, from my understanding is that tesla recalls don’t need to bring the workshop. Why don’t the main stream medias mention that😢

Love your vids. One suggestion: zoom way in when viewing browser windows. Very hard to read text from a phone.

If we were to claim that a person needed to be hospitalized for a medical condition that could be remedied with medication, it would be erroneous and deceptive. Likewise, if we were to assert that a Tesla vehicle required a physical recall for a problem that could be fixed through an over-the-air update, it would also be incorrect and deceptive.

Great episode Rob. Good variety. Ford and other Legacies have to admit the facts so they can do what's necessary to be competitive.

Regarding the speed limit part of the recall: to me it seems clear they are talking about the lethargic reaction to passing a lower speed limit sign. If they just wanted to ban exceeding the speed limit at all they would have also had to recall production AP but did not!

I'm happy they are fixing it - it is a safety issue on roads where you encounter a small town and the speed limit goes from 65 > 55 > 40

I saw the recall headline and the drop in share price and actually lol.
Traders must love these OAU recalls... Easy money for them 🙂

I applied the recall on my iPhone today. Thank you recalls!

I think the whole speed adjustment thing is to address school and construction zones. The user over ride needs to be cancelled in those instances.

Thanks for posting the update around the firing and how Tesla scheduled their performance reviews. It was a quick read but many may decide to just go with the headlines so Tesla is dammed if they do communicate quickly and efficiently and dammed if they don't. It's up to use to make sure we use the resources we are provided and draw our on conclusions. I appreciate the communication and the insight it gave me. I hope those who were let go find jobs soon and am thankful to the entire Buffalo team for their great work. Go Tesla!

Looks like it wasn't retaliation based on the report from Tesla regarding this

Hi Rob, great stuff as usual. In Germany you need to reduce the speed of the car at the speedsign. If you don't you get a fine. Since many speed camera's are just behind the speed sign, all Germans hit the brakes or the accelerator to drive at the correct speed at the speed sign. So you quickly adjust and get used to.

Enjoyed today's edition, Rob, thanks. Well, I enjoy them every day, of course, but today answered some questions I had.

Problem for Renault and other legacy auto is that they are late to market with volume production. They missed the bus. Thus it's difficult to ramp into economies of scale to unlock cost reduction.

For item #3, this is a problem that I’ve seen for quite a while. Our main road speed limit is 55, but there are school zones along the route. When the yellow lights are flashing the peed limit drops to 35. Beta FSD totally ignores it and still blows through at full speed (usually adjusted to 60). I always have to turn it off when approaching these areas.

NHTSA are asking Tesla for this OTA recall because these FSD features break traffic laws.

Literally three of those four points NHTSA brought up are in violation of the law as it is written in all states, and NHTSA don't' want to set a precedence for software companies writing AI software that deliberately breaks road laws. NHTSA don't really care that almost all human drivers do not come to a complete stop at an empty intersection - they care that the software should not break the law, because then it's a really slippery slope down for when software can willingly break the law and when it cant.
