Cabin Logistics In The Rocky Mountains (Ep 32)

if only a person had more time in the day to get a thing done. I'm sure the trappers had it so very difficult in a way which we will never know. The modern day wilderness person now relies on YouTube as a steady income. It's one way to make a dollar on your own free will. The romance of one against nature shows its ugly side the odd time.... and that's ok.

See you all out there! Don't forget Tufte :

I spent 4 years in outboard school. get the genuine service manual for your motor. maybe think of it this way, everything comes apart and goes back together in layers. a water separating fuel filter is like an insurance addition to your fuel supply line. Those NGK spark plugs are the best, good choice. when diagnosing problem remember engine needs spark, get a cheap inline spark checker, fuel, and compression. ive found that yamalube is top notch and mixed properly for a two cycle outboard will prevent carbon build up and help engine live longer. get a can of OMC engine tuner to melt carbon build up and to clean things like spark plugs and carburetors if ever needed. i hope this helps a bit.

Wow I wasn't expecting another video this week. What a bonus.

Making progress! Starlink mounted ✅. Solar in parallel ✅ solar generator off the island ✅. Spark plugs obtained ✅. Boat motor start to move boat to property✅. Gas generator repaired✅. Heat source in the cabin✅. Laptop replacement solution quickly resolved ✅. New video released✅. Sometimes things go more slowly than others, sometimes it’s a bumpy ride, and sometimes things come together. Take the wins where you can. Doing great man. Keep on keeping on. 👍🏻👍🏻✌️

Before you shut down the generator, while it's running, place the fuel line valve on the fuel off position then let it run out of fuel in the line the engine will shut off when it runs out, this prevents gunk build up in the fuel bowl and jets . I learned it the hard way ...

You have to build a small shed for the generator to try to keep it dry. Good to have you back so soon made my day.

I just shared your video with 40 people. I am trying to get as many people as I can to watch your videos. I will be sharing them to a lot more people.

Your situation demands extreme organization, layers of back-up plans with redundancy in multiples. Prioritize most every task, accomplishing even small tasks at least every day to keep a sense of moving forward. Budget restraints will always factor in but your transportation needs are a must along with basic life needs. Plan ahead in the evening what absolutely needs to get done each day. Keep track of materials and supplies that need replenishing. When you’re at your wits end, use that anger to chop more firewood for that long cold winter. Tomorrow is another beautiful rewarding day. 😢😮😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Hey Shawn, IMPORTANT TIP. I'm a graphic designer since 2005. I use a Lenovo laptop which is spendy but worth it.
Those laptops you're buying will last longer if when you're done editing, wrap it up in like your sleeping bag or get a 2 gallon ziplock bag to put it in. Condensation gets inside the laptop and can cause a miryad of problems.
I left my Dell in my car overnight a bunch years ago and the next day I had nothing but problems.
Wrap it or cover it Shawn, that'll help.
Thanks for the videos too, you're doing what most of us want to. I suffer from neuropathy, so I am stuck near a hospital. Take care Bro.

When you’re putting a heat shield, you want to have a standoff from the wall, and a gap at the floor - what keeps it from burning the wall is the air rushing behind taking the heat away before it gets transmitted to the wall. Even if it doesn’t start a fire, it will certainly melt your Vapor barrier.

For that water crossing on the trail get you some barrels and put them together to make a bridge

A cable that can span that distance is going to be HEAVY. Like you'll have trouble lifting it forget about getting it 50ft in the air without machinery

I've worked on small engines for close to 40 years, and I've said this before, and I'll say it again " DON'T USE ETHENAL FUEL IN 2 OR 4 CYCLE SMALL ENGINES " and I would suggest a cover on your boat motor and tank and generator too if your not putting it in or under cover . All it takes to kill an engine from running is water the size of the point on a needle !!!I highly suggest keeping and using some water treatment for fuel like Heat, the yellow or red bottle .I think the red one is isopropyl alcohol. I know premium ethanol free fuel is more expensive, but not if you take away all your going through . It may not be a sure cure but it can't i remember telling you to get two or three extra spark plugs and filters for your small engines, running to town every day is killing your budget and build .

At the end of the day Shawn you are your own boss, making your own choices. Sometimes it might seem difficult but what you achieve is from all your hard work and no one can take that away. Everyone has struggles and to share yours along the way and you work through them is amazing.

Hey Shaun. Have you ever thought about doing ASMR videos? Set up a camera at a cool angle and record the river for 2 or 3 hours. Some people like the calm sound of running water and nature. It could be an easy way for you to put out an additional video each week with very little editing and maybe get a bit more YouTube money in your pocket. Just a thought!

Love how you said on the trail, “cheer up buddy, things will be ok!” Storms pass, things will level out, and we can all use reminding so thanks!

Rough week. Nursed two of our old dogs, one for 3 weeks 24/7, and other for 3 days. Thy passed peacefully at home. I slept on the floor beside them. We listened to Your videos Shawn, the whole time. I believe they liked them and helped calm them. Thank you My Man

Surprise video. Thanks

I’ve had issues with charging electronics through a generator. (Power surges). I now use surge protected power bars and recently bought a small inverter just for electronic charging.

Remember that we are all here watching because we love the chaos. How you manage to not rage break everything around you is beyond me lol.

buddy, take the time for YOU. leave the cameras at the cabin, work on the trail, cabin, boat, whatever and update us in a few weeks. weather is your deadline and it's coming up soon. your videos are great and honest but your well being and good head space is more important than us getting a notification there's a new video.
