In this video, Dr. Crawford reviews a paper recently published in Fertility and Sterility called “ The minimum number of mature oocytes needed to obtain at least one euploid blastocyst according to female age in IVF treatment cycles”

My cousin got 8 eggs at 38 years old and had 3 born babies, all healthy by 44yo. I got 15 frozen eggs when I was almost 39, but I have PCOS, so that makes a difference. I don't know if any of those will turn into a baby, but I had my baby through IUI at 40 and she's healthy and happy. These are fortunate situations, but there are other women in similar situations that didn't have the same results. It really is specific to each woman and her partner, and the parameters are so complex that one needs to get personalised support from the experts in the field.

Even for one person every cycle is soooo different.

First retrieval was May 7.. 16 retrieved, 15 mature, 10 fertilized, 3 blasts (2 euploid)

Second retrieval was July 2.. 18 retrieved, 11 mature, 9 fertilized, 7 blasts (PGTa pending)

I’m 39.8 and managed to get 15 eggs last month, 10 mature, 7 fertilized (ICSI), 3 blasts, PGT-A pending. Was really confident when we got double digit eggs, but each drop felt like a gut punch. Really hoping those blasts are all the good ones.

Planning go through the process with my wife in early 2025 both at at age 40. If it works it works. If it doesn’t it doesn’t. It is what it is. If God allows it then great if not then great.

Had 3 egg retrieval at 38 years old to get one euploid embryo, and now 26 weeks pregnant. Parameters are different from person to person and these retrievals with hormone injections has bad side effects on health in general, doctors used to ignore complications and focus just on the final result.

I'm 35, wanting to start my SMBC journey this year. However, pre-implantation testing is not allowed in my country, unfortunately. (Only under certain circumstances, like a deadly disease in your family/ having had several losses, etc.)
Ideally, I would like to have enough fertilized eggs to have a full sibling later without having to use older eggs by then.

Another question about IVF - I got my period 10 days post egg retrieval. I was supposed to start my period again and start estradiol for FET protocol around cycle day 28. I am now on cycle day 40, with two negative home pregnancy tests. In your opinion is this normal for cycles to be irregular following retrieval? Is there any testing I should request from fertility doctor?

Im a newly wed and am not planning on having children soon. My blood flow is less than normal I suppose and I had an ultrasound recently due to indigestion, which showed my endometrium layer at 4mm, this was on the 3rd day of my cycle. Is that a problem?, cause I searched online and I saw 7mm was the norm for pregnancies.
