So when they see an animal WITH boundaries, it confuses them and they label them as mean and unaffectionate (the same way they would a person who sets a boundary lol). Cats have had enough bad PR, honestly.

Cats are just mini humans. It takes time to gain their trust. They can be moody for no reason just like humans can be. They can be extremely affectionate. They want alone time but sometimes they will gladly enjoy socializing with you.

People need to realize that cats aren't like dogs. They don't immediately think you're the best thing ever. Cats need time for you to earn their trust and respect. Once they trust you, they tend to be extremely sweet and kind.

Update: Malerie ended up trying to adopt Karina, but her landlord didn't allow pets. In February 2021 she adopted a cat and she has posted pictures of her on her Instagram.
I couldn't find anything on Alison so if anyone has any news regarding that then let me know!

Cats are actually very affectionate, they just show it in different ways than dogs. That's what makes them special, once you bond with a cat they love you and they show it. That's what makes them special.
