On the pathway to and through college, too many students aren’t succeeding. Each year, large numbers of students who intended to start college stumble in the transition to college, failing to make it even to their first day. Students can also struggle once enrolled. For example, for students from low-income backgrounds who attend college after high school, the most common outcome is participating in some higher education, likely taking on debt, but not earning any degree or credential. In this talk, Lindsay C. Page shares her research on how proactive outreach and support for students can improve their chances of accessing college and succeeding once there.
