Most money that is used today is not cash in terms of printed currency notes and certainly not metal coins. Banks and the government can keep tract of at least 90% of all the money we spend.

Somehow, whenever you diss crypto online, you get "You don't get it. You need to read XY and then you will invest".
Dude. If there is anything actually worthwhile about these x-coins, you will be able to put it into one singular sentence. Boil it down.
Invest in wheat? It's food. People need to eat.
Invest in cars? It's transportation. People need to move around.
Invest in schools? It's education. A complex economy needs people with specialized skills.
These are solid. If the assumption that the world won't end tomorrow is speculation, then these investments are also speculation. But if you assume the world keeps turning, the above mentioned things are investments and crypto is speculation based on something without inherent value.

Isn't there no intrinsic value for money in general? That's the whole idea of having legal tender isn't it? You convert something that has intrinsic value (food?) for something that doesn't (currency).
