The FTC typically makes a decision on merger issues like this within 30 days, but it appears we will have to wait until January to see if Kroger can merge with Albertsons.

This merger, if allowed, to go through will lead to job losses, less competition, and higher prices.

Hope that they don't allow the merger. It will not be good thing in the long run.

Well, in Oregon on the northwest coast, this would become a monopoly. If Kroger buys Albertson/Safeway, it would make buying groceries impossible for many. The already extremely high prices at both locations in Tillamook, OR, are ridiculous.
Sadly, the closest Walmart to get decent prices is over an hour away.
It would be a monopoly win for Kroger they can make us pay whatever their fat pockets want to. 😡

Please block the merger! Please break smiths and Albertsons up into 10 companies. Maybe then we could get some fair competition.

The FTC needs to block this merger! Just like the Albertsons merger was bad for competition, this will be as well. Not to mention the store closures that will create food deserts in some communities.

I don't support the merger because I don't support Albertsons food practices. Thankfully, the Albertsons that had broke OSHA rules for food storage is no longer open, but it did raise my concern about their other stores and if anything was ever done. To clarify, the eggs and milk were stored outside the refrigerated area despite them being pasteurized and requiring refrigeration here in the US. Unfortunately, we didn't find out until after we had been sick for two weeks because of their lack of understanding about pasteurization and US eggs and milk. At least we learned why and were able to switch stores. Most likely, it was just a bad manager, but who knows how many other customers got sick besides us. I do not support Kroger merging with them. Even if it was just one store, it still sours their name.

Why does the FTC think it’s a good idea to block this?? I would love to see the lower prices at kroger expand to my local Albertsons but I guess the federal government has made up its mind that if it’s big it’s bad… smh

Albertsons is the owner of a local grocery store in my community. There are a lot of us hope or pray this sale doesn't go through.
The quality of their services and products is a good reason to shop their. Their price may be a little high., but the quality of their meat products are a A+ compared to other stores in my community as well better variety choices.
