my dog had separation anxiety, one time we went to pick up my sister from college (2 hours away in total 4 ) we came back and he had broke the door frame, ripped up the couch which are all near the window next to the front door. my parents had gotten really mad that they gave him away. but i had been telling them to take him to get trained. and they said no we can train him at home . but in reality none of us knew how to properly train a dog ( keep in mind my dog is a husky) . and i still get sad because he was my first dog. He and i were very attached and because of that they gave him away behind my back. after school coming home getting ready to walk my dog just to find out he wasnt there anymore. what could’ve been if they had listened to my advice months prior, HE had separation anxiety. i just hope people see this and don’t cheap out on training your dog, it’s worth it!

The more you train a dog the more they know how to behave as we wish them to behave!

I was told my dog had anxiety by a vet but it turns out he was just high energy without true leadership. As soon as i replaced his harness & started training him every single day, his behavior completely changed. He used to bark, lunge, try to get away, cry when he in public. Now hes calm, confident, and trusts me to lead. He walks by my side and ignores people now. Its amazing. This guy has so many good videos.

My dog definitely has anxiety...broke out of her crate while we were gone and shredded the door to try to get to us. She's super smart, and listens well...mostly the obsessive behavior is while we're gone.
She was dumped in our neighborhood in March

These short videos are a wonderful idea. They really highlight what’s going on in the dog’s mind and how to work through the unwanted behaviors!

I think we did a good job with making sure our dobey mix doesn't get separation anxiety. Puzzle toys are awesome. And he loves our fuzzy throw pillows. Taking a long walk or running at the park for an hour before we leave anywhere helps tire him out. A bored dog is a bad dog a tired dog is a calm dog. So good at basic commands. But the fucking leash walking...lol

When I got my German Shepherd from the shelter, she was 8 months old, and she had anxiety. What I did and still do is leave the TV on, and all was and still is good. Also, I leave her toys out for her.

I need this full video! We moved into a new home, and my somewhat good dog has become overwhelmed with separation anxiety. He broke a window trying to get out. I’m so glad I found this page.

My grandpa had a dog that he put in his room once when he went to the store and she ate through the drywall to get out. She definitely had anxiety.

Thanks for this it really showed me that my dog has anxiety. When we leave he pees on himself and shreds everything. He is a rescue so it has been really hard thank you.

My ex started telling his Doberman to "keep it safe" before he walked out the door and the dog stopped messing with the trash when he wasn't home like it was magic! It helped that they had a few experiences with unhoused people trying to OD in the stairwell of his apt building that I think the dog understood.

We adopted a dog from a rescue. When our dog gets anxious he shakes uncontrollably, pees, poops and expresses his anal glands. This has nothing to do with separation, we can leave him for hours without issue. He’s afraid of new people- for context- he came out of a meth house and was saved from a cage after SWAT did a no knock on the meth house. He is terrified of sudden groups of people showing up at our house. (Recently had family come for a visit and he was terrified). We’ve been trying to work through some of his insecurities. We’ve found letting him really run his tail off- helps ground him in preparation for training. Which he does well- but all of that goes it the door when people come to our house, for example- like a birthday party/baby shower/BBQ. He’s actually come so far from when he was in a foster for the rescue. My previous dog was actually a service dog- who was very confident and had zero issues with obedience/anxiety/ socializing. I’ve handle this dog with the confidence I did with my service dog and I think that’s really helped build trust with him. He’s learning- it’s been a few months and we’ve come so far with things. I continue to watch training videos to build my training tool box to help me help him be a better boy.

My dog gets very loud and barking when I leave the house but I have him in a crate when I leave so it's different

Our two dogs were siblings and had separation anxiety with each other. They were always with each other and we didn't put in the time to train them out of it. If I tried to take one alone on a short walk the other one went insane. The one I had was totally fine, excited for the walk. The other would bark enough to hear from two blocks away, would slam themselves into the door, sprint from the side yard where they could see us to the door until there were track and couldn't focus on anything else, not even their favorite treats. Fortunately they were 8 when we had to put one down and so while depressed, our old boy knew it was time.

Thank you for coming to KC Pet Project and answering so many questions. I foster failed (adopted) a behavior dog, and I’m starting to implement some of the advice you gave us. I’m thrilled by the initial results and look forward to continued success.

BTW - I love seeing you rep KC and our beloved Patrick Mahomes in some of your past videos!
