With COVID-19 vaccination campaigns being ramped up in various parts of the world, some countries in Europe are slowly easing restrictions.
As for Muslims who are set to begin their holy fasting month of Ramadan next week,... only vaccinated pilgirms will be allowed to visit Mecca.
Choi Min-jung reports.

Starting next week, the UK will ease its current lockdown measures,… as infections are declining amid rapid vaccine rollouts.
Speaking at a news briefing on Monday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that the country's economy will reopen starting April 12th.

"And the net result of your efforts - and of course, of the vaccine rollout - is that I can today confirm that from Monday, 12th April, we will move to step two of our roadmap: reopening shops, gyms, zoos, holiday camp sites, personal care services like hairdressers and, of course, beer gardens and outdoor hospitality of all kinds."

The UK government has been slowly lifting restrictions, following the roadmap out of lockdown since February.
While still cautious, Johnson said international travel and indoor dining may also resume starting May 17th, if the situation further improves.
Johnson added the government is looking into issuing vaccine passports for traveling abroad and participating in large events.

Meanwhile in Germany, people who have received both shots of the COVID-19 vaccine will be granted more freedom.
Citing the latest scientific data indicating low transmission rates amid vaccinated people, the German Health Minister on Sunday announced that people who are fully vaccinated will no longer have to quarantine,… or go shopping or dining with a COVID-19 test result.
This comes as people need to present negative test results to visit these non-essential areas in some cities.
Following two months of tightened COVID-19 curbs, Portugal on Monday has also decided to ease measures by reopening museums, outdoor cafes and secondary schools.

And over in Saudi Arabia, people who have been immunized against the virus will be granted permission to perform the Umrah pilgrimage in Mecca.
The Saudi authorities announced Monday that those people will be eligible from the start of Ramadan.
