My friend and I changed the fuel injectors on my neighbors supercharged Jaguar. It took almost 2 days of driving for the cats to finally clear up and quit smoking.

I was 22 when I was tboned by a guy that ran a stop sign. Impact was so hard the whiplash messed my back up so bad it’s changed my life. The guy drove away, I didn’t think he would cause his car was so messed up. Well long story short, cops could t find him even tho I had the first three of his plate and many parts to his car. So I hired Morgan and Morgan they reassured me they would find him and make it right with all my bills that accrued from the hospital and physical therapy….poor communication and 6 months later I found out they didn’t do anything except go after my uninsured motorist insurance from my ins company…took 7k for them and left me with 3k and my rates went up and I was left with a totaled car and 15k in hospital bills. F$&@ m&m they only want the big money stuff they don’t care about the little guy.

Pretty sure the heavy smoking is because the ECM had cranked down the long term fuel delivery because of the rich reading form the senor on the exhaust and now when the injectors actualy works the short term compensation have to adjust the delivery untill long term gets to a normal level again.

Dude, don’t listen to anybody. I am a fan of them also. I bought my LR three probably eight years ago and I love it. Like you, I fix my own vehicle and save myself probably tens of thousands of dollars doing so. Considering that most garages want $500 to replace $50 spark plugs. That take 10 minutes and while I’m at it I always replace my ignition coils at the same time. The point being that, as I said in another post… If you love these vehicles, they are a labor of love. But when they are running good, there is nothing else on the road like them. The air shocks in mine are heavenly. You don’t feel any bump on the road. It is the smoothest running vehicle I’ve ever felt

Not to mention the 15 speaker surround sound system in it. If you love these vehicles, then you’re going to be willing to work on them to keep them running well. If you can’t bring yourself to go under the hood, then you’re going to spend tens of thousands of dollars fixing $1000 worth of parts that you could replace yourself in minutes, if not an hour or so.

So keep enjoying it, like I enjoy mine. The naysayers, maybe they had some horrible experiences with theirs… And maybe, they took them to a garage and probably almost passed out at what they wanted to charge them to fix the stupidest and easiest of things.

Hope you had a merry Christmas and have a wonderful new year.

Always Am impressed how straight Sam's cars look parked around the cattle. Been raised in a Farm, saw plenty of times water tanks getting bent or even destroyed, due to the cattle scratching on it. And even bending panels on trucks, from rubbing on them.

Now that you got the fuel system cleaned up I would highly recommend replacing the upstream O2 sensors. They are probably super fouled, and on supercharged or turbo vehicles I would say the service life on them is about 80k miles before needing new ones.

A great resolution to a perplexing problem. Thanks Sam for another year of great content. A great year end video would be a flashback look at ALL the cars that have come and gone in 22. Anyway wishing you a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2023!

Glad the repair worked for you. I get what you say as I have owned 3 Rangerovers (87, 2000, 2006) The ride is awesome and the 1987 version is awesome off-road. Hope all goes well.

Same thing happened to my 335i, it was pouring fuel into the engine almost 1/4tank in a 10 mins of idling. Fixed the problem and she smoked bad like that for 15 mins then cleared up and runs perfect.

After owning 5 Range Rovers of 3 different generations I understand your love for the Range. You really gotta drive them to understand them. Nothing drives like a Range Rover
