The stretch reflex

Показать описание
The skeletal muscle spindle is a receptor apparatus that detects the length, and more specifically, changes in length to a muscle, helping to provide proprioceptive information about our body and limb positions. It can also help prevent damage to tissues generated by inadvertent stretch by activating a contraction in response to that stretch. Finally, muscle fibers associated with the muscle spindle change length to maintain functionality of the spindle regardless of overall muscle length.
