in this video I will be giving you instructions on what to do when you arrive at a Mexican airport (in this video I was in Guadalajara airport) and intend on leaving Mexico to go back to your home country. this video will be very important if you are a temporary or permanent resident of mexico. make sure to follow these steps fully in order to prevent yourself from getting into a big problem!

1. get your boarding pass
2. go to the immigration office
3. give the officer your passport and residency card
4. ask for him to stamp your passport
5. check to make sure that he stamped it and make sure to get your card and passport back.
6. safe travels!

Requires a valid passport or passport card. The stamped FMM is valid for land travel throughout Mexico. Cost: $687.00 Pesos (appx U.S. $38) per person; FREE if the trip is 7 days or less and you cross by land. May be issued for up to 180 days

You have to check in with immigration if you are a u.s citizen, resident, or traveling with a visa.

This is something new they started doing when traveling within the Country of Mexico as an American. Like a permission slip to be in the country. I literally had to go to the same window. 😂

As a US citizen, I've never had this issue. I enter Mexico and keep the FMM form’s date-stamped copy issued to you at exit, or the exit stamp that was placed in your passport. I mean, this is all taken care of when you first go thru immigration upon arrival.

Thank you for this, beyond helpful for me. I'm traveling soon with a layover at GDL on Volaris. Good to know airport logistics.

Another thing… dont change your dollars to pesos at the airport. They will rip you off! If you need pesos immediately, only change what you need to get yourself to a money changing bank or something.

Yes it is common on all airport international and domestic. Just keep checking if you in the right spot. Most the time the app are correct, but still double check.

This might be an airline situation. I flew back to the states in Nov, there was no FFM anymore and they stamped my ticket and passport. I was kept the ticket as proof but never needed it. When I entered Mexico again I of course had to pass immigration, but I showed my passport and resident card and I had no problem. I also flew From Merida to CDMX and back and I showed my passport as well as my sister (who is not a resident) and we both did not go to immigration. I didnt show my resident card when flying domestically. Note to self, don't fly Volaris. Probably not worth the cheap price. Sounds like you got a bunch of folks who made the process long for no reason. Sorry you all went through that. I flew Aeromexico.

0:52 and that is exactly the same procedure in the us for foreigners exiting the country, you got to return the issued visa.

This happens when me and my family went to Mexico for the first time. It’s the paper they give you when you enter Mexico. We threw it bc we didn’t know. We missed our flight that day and left the morning after. All because we didn’t know and we didn’t ask.

I guess I’ve been lucky, but have never had a gate number change, and I have traveled to many countries. Interesting and informative video though, thanks for sharing :)

Its not the airline it's the airport that tells the planes what gate, and many of the small airlines are just put in whatever gate is open at the moment.
