He's right to call it out. Schools push you into it to bump up their numbers, particularly those that don't know what they want yet. If that sounds like you, consider a gap year to figure out what your passion is before you dive head first into something you've been conditioned to think would suit you. Get out into the world of work and see what you don't like. I dived into a degree that I was interested in, but not passionate about. As a consequence, I put most of my energy into enjoying the social side and the course became a trivial side quest. Cliché as it sounds, you've got to love what you do, and sometimes you need more life experiences to be able to make that call.
