Side note: I used to resist playing Smash Brothers but I lost the cartridge so now it’s far easier to resist the temptation to play.

These shorts that you make to draw attention to your older videos are a great idea. Being a relatively new subscriber, it helps me to efficiently dive into past publications of interest that I would otherwise never find. Thank you!

Tom Cruise doesn't waste time on silly things like video games, because he's too busy learning about Lord Xenu and mastering new Thetan levels.

I'm always telling my wife & her friends, who say I have a lot of will power, that knowledge is power, not will. Knowledge of what your choices mean is what makes them attractive or unattractive. You can train yourself to see sweets or booze or whatever you're having trouble with negatively by just habitually thinking of their negative traits when you see them. It's all in the meaning you give things.

As a high school student, this has essentially been my policy around drugs/vapes. If I never start, i won’t ever have to stop. I’m the kind of person who has so little will power I’ll just leave some homework until the morning since by bus arrives about 20 minutes early. I wait until the last moment to actually do any work. And yet, I’m not addicted to drugs. I’d say it works. Now if only I could have done it for other aspects of my life. I think it comes down to status quo btw. We sorta judge everything based on how different it is from our status quo. That’s why poor people can still be happy, but if they get rich, live a bit, then get poor again they’ll probably be very miserable.

This is why I don't buy junk food and have it in the house! And my laziness keeps me from running out to the store when I have a craving😂

I fill my cupboards full of chocolate cakes and biscuits and spend all week resisting eating them all. I say all week, normally they are gone by the end of day 1. Perhaps I shouldn't put them there in the first place.

Tom cruise do all his hobbies in his movies, he will even go to space for a movie, he doesn't need a will power

It’s like the old Catholic idea of “avoiding the near occasions of sin”: avoid the temptations in the first place.

This is totally true I had problems with not resisting eating sweets for many years while living with my parents.
But when I moved out i was not buying any and it was simple as that .
Out of sight out of mind.

This doesn't negate willpower. You still need to work on being self controlled and disciplined.

This model of a short video as a primer to your more indepth video works very well for your type of content !

PSA that this entire research field has been the center of a controversy on the difficulty to replicate psychological studies. Self-control research has not been conducted well, and 2012 is ancient history in the world of science. Do not put too much stock into what's said in this video, because the presented information is considered incorrect in psychology currently and may continue to be considered incorrect in the future.

I recently reduced my alcohol intake from every night to about one or two nights a week. How? Not willpower, I just avoided the alcohol section of the supermarket and after a few weeks I got used to not drinking every night. So now not drinking is just normal to me. Simple.

Headline: "Women who own horses live longer"

Implied correlation: horses make you live longer.

Reality: if you own a horse, you can probably afford health insurance.

Shaping ones environment so its more conducive to you not having to exert willpower definitely is the key to accomplishing anything difficult and it is why low carb diets are so effective. While weight loss does come down to an energy balance equation, by filling up on foods that are the most satiating, the least addictive, and stimulate the least blood sugar spikes, the practitioner of a low carb diet is essentially altering his dietary environment where the very things that would cause him to eat excessive calories - hunger, cravings, and energy fluctuations - are minimized. Yes, he is in a caloric deficit, but he doesn't have to be as conscious of calories as much, nor does he have to put forth as much effort to reign in his calories, in the way that someone who counts calories, and allows themselves to be exposed to hyperpalatable, blood sugar spiking and crave inducing high carb foods would have to exercise immense will power. That is why, when comparing the two diets - a calorically restricted high carb diet and a low carb diet - the latter generally has better long term compliance.

That's why Jesus said:

«You have heard it said, "Do not violate marital fidelity. But I tell you that he who merely looks at a woman with lust has already broken marital fidelity in his heart. If your right eye draws you to sin, pluck it out and cast it away. It is better for you to lose a part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand draws you to sin, cut it off and cast it away. It is better for you to lose a part of your body than for your whole body to go to hell»

He knew that willpower is for loser

Willpower are exhausting....

As an addict, the more you use willpower to deflect your addictions, the more tempting those addictions and thirst you get....
