way to shine the light on a hidden gem 💎 i recently dove deep into the obsidian world and despite loving so many aspects of notion, i decided not to use it due to it's cloud~only, interface.. this here, however, looks like a stellar program with the same precious principles as obsidian ~ very happy to have stumbled on this video + very much looking forward to utilizing this awesome looking tool 👏🏽 🌹

I really like Anytype UI and UX, its beautiful. Although I wished it was kept simple and be the exact Notion alternative. It has some cool features and concept as you mentioned, but it was quite hard to grasp the concept and for me to recommend this to someone else who wants to migrate from Notion would confuses them alot.

Some things about anytype are a bit slow getting used to coming from notion-land. Like the term "relations" seems to just mean attributes... not necessarily anything to do with relational databases (shared attributes). Sometimes I think there's no way to do something then find a backdoor way. Not a lot of editing in place. Maybe it's all there and just a steep learning curve, or maybe it's a bit kludgey and missing a few features. I need to next figure out the difference between a type and a relation, then see if I can get it to do views in a template, and roll-ups I need 2-3 levels deep).

I have some extra time starting in July, and I want to use it to learn some information organizing tool. I'm currently considering using Capacities and Anytype. They sound very similar from what I've heard. Anytype's ability to work offline is a big plus. Capacities sounds like it's a bit further along in development, and has a number of enthusiasts. Do you have any other thoughts on how they compare?

Edit: I just went to the Anytype website you listed and made an appointment for an onboarding introduction in July. That was easy.

I’ve been using notion for several months and find it so cumbersome and slow at times and hate that it’s entirely cloud based and keep looking for alternatives while I’m still struggling to get it all set up. Something about this feels like the answer and I’m excited to try it out

Do the fact that it works offline mean, that it stores all the stuff on each PC i open it with? Or can you decide each time you use a new device weather you want to store locally or not?

what if anytype becomes a subscription or a one time payment in the future do you think we can use older version of their app and have it completely offline ? but how can you sync with your other apps, is it possible(in the previously mentioned hypothesis)

My biggest complaint is that it's very mouse-centric. It's difficult to perform certain actions with just the keyboard. There also doesn't seem to be any way to integrate it. I wish that I could access content programmatically so that I could incorporate it with my automation.
