Any journalist hunting for a good story has to be willing to do the kind of digging that gets your hands dirty.

It's been awhile since anyone from 9NEWS has been to the warehouse where the station stores its entire 16mm film archive. These reels from the 1950s, '60s and '70s remained untouched and unseen for decades.

As 9NEWS celebrates 70 years on the air, reporter Noel Brennan volunteered for a treasure hunt through history, to pick out a few old reels of film and rediscover stories told by journalists who came before.

9NEWS (KUSA) is located in Denver, Colorado.

I would love to see archived news from the mid to late 70’. During this period, I was a 6 year old kid FASCINATED with the 9News Sky 9 helicopter. The helicopter was a Bell 206 and landed at my school, Green Gables Elementary. I brought a Polaroid camera that day and took a couple of pictures. I will forever remember that day. That particular time period, 9News the Photojournalist wore uniforms. I used to pretend as a child and do my own news reporting drawing 9News on my white T-shirts. Great memories.
